Hello:

Its my impression that most schools will accept either an english lit course or a composition course.

I'm currently enrolled in an "Essay and Report Writing" composition course.

Can anyone tell me if there are any d-schools that will NOT accept a Composition course as the english requirement (if there are any that exist)?

Thanks!

Although I doubt that schools care too awfully much about whether it is a comp or lit course, I doubt even further that anyone on this site knows with any degree of certainty how each dental school will decide whether or not to accept your english class. Additionally, would you really want to risk taking the wrong class or applying to a school that will not accept you based on incomplete pre-reqs based on the word of another pre-dent on an anonymous forum board?

My advice is that you contact each school that you think you want to apply to in order to find out first hand what english classes they take or at the very least, do your own reading of the AADSAS book since it contains the pre-reqs required by each school.

no..composition courses are recommended. remember some schools require 6 credits of english

"Essay and report writing" is certainly what they're looking for.

I don't have any, my university didn't have any core requirements, and all liberal arts classes were extremely writing intensive. I took classes in Poetry and Comparative Literature...was a little worried about how strict they are about "English and Composition", but I think it depends on the school. I'm still getting interview invites, so I think if it's an area of concern to them, they'll bring it up during the interview process.
