Can anyone recommend a good speed-reading course in NYC area or on Long Island (NY)?

Any practical suggestions on how to improve reading speed, please?

i asked this same question to the director for the MCAT prep course I was taking. He said, it's just reading 🙄

I know that's not much help..

I've heard speed reading classes don't work that well. I have heard what works is practicing reading faster. Read a lot and force yourself to do it fast. Keep doing it until you can read faster and still understand everything. When I read I take my sweet time. But on the MCAT, we can't do that. So we have to force ourselves to read faster. 🙂 good luck fellow slow reader 🙂

I must warn you that speed reading isn't (in my opinion) the most important reading skill in the Verbal section. Being able to look up information and knowing where the right information is located is probably more important. Looking for keywords, picking up on structure, and tone are also important. This you may be able to do by skimming and using the 1st paragraph, topic sentence strategy.

Speed reading is fun though in other areas. When I started to speed read, it helped to use one of my hands sliding down the text at a rapid pace and letting my eyes race after it.
