I have been listening to Goljan among a few other audio lecturers. Using media player you can adjust the Play Speed to fast for most file types to make a 1 hour lecture play in about 45 minutes. However, because the Goljan audio files are recorded in a different frequency or bit rate or something I can't adjust the play speed. Does anyone know of a way to do this or either convert these files into .wma or something like that?

Thanks

You should be able to do this with winamp I believe.

I think it may be rather funny listening to goljan in chipmunk speed.

you can use real player with the enounce plug-in, without having re-encode all the files. it goes up to 2.5x and doesn't sound like a chipmunk, except when he laughs.

The Goljan audio that most people get are actually mp2 files. You need to convert them to a real MP3, still not sure if that will allow you to play them faster in WMP

Thanks for the advice on Enounce. I downloaded the 7-day trial & it seems to do exactly what I want. Do you know if there is a free version or serial number floating around anywhere or do you have to pay for it?

Thanks.

yea do a google search on "serials and cracks". I have an extensive list at home--if u haven't found it by tonite, I''ll send it to u (if I have it), when i go home tonite.

Pox, then you have a lot more time than I do. I like to listen to him quickly, jot down what he hits as the highlights from his handouts, and then study them on my own. May just be personal preference though.

If you change them into MP3 format then you will be able to listen to them at a higher speed. I found a program (freeware) that did it, but it took me like 10-15 minutes per file to convert from mp2 to mp3

Or using your existing program convert them into wave files and then back into mp3, aac, wmp, etc..

god i guess some people are super smart, for heavens sake i am not a lecture person because my brain cant process a normal speed lecture fast enough to learn from it and that is why i have to sit at home and read at a slow pace so my slow ass brain can handle it, i have never even fathomed someone learning medicine type material at a tape playing 2.5 times faster. ha that makes me laugh and feel dumb at the same time so i guess that cancels out and i feel teh same now.
