hi all i'm taking the mcat soon and i'm currently taking practice tests and i keep staying the same. my biggest problems are Verbal and physical, verbal i can only finish about 6/7 passages in the time and its usually the same with physical. With physical my stategy is to do the free standings first which takes me about 15 min. then i tackle the passages. I was wondeing if anyone knows any good technique to speed up in those sections? my score hasnt changed since me last test last week and it's kind depressing. I need help :(

stop doing discretes first. Just go through it in order. Skipping through sections wastes time.

I've read several posts by others that it's better to do discretes first then passages... is this not a good strategy?? Assuming you run out of time... it's better to miss passage questions than discretes?

Discretes are usually faster to do because they don't require specific knowledge from the passages. So, if you are usually running out of time, I don't think it is a bad idea to do the discretes first. Being said that, you want to practice such that you are not running out of time. Are you running out of time because you spend too much time on a hard question?

Complete the discrete questions first. Most of the time they are fairly quick, but a few might take some math. Then go to the passages and read the questions first, so while you are reading you will know exactly what to look for in the passage. Once you do that read the passage and then complete the questions. Other than that practice and more practice will make you quicker at solving the problems, thus increasing how fast you go through the section. These are just the tips that have helped me tackle the physical science section and may or may not help you.
