Has St. Matthew's moved from Belize to the Grand Cayman Islands? Any current students care to comment on whether this is true or not and what the reasons were? I'm just curious. Thanks.

I am not a St. Matthews student but from reading the st. mats fourum it looks like (for reasons unknown to me) they had to close up shop on Belize and reopen somewhere else, possibly the Grand Caymans. I am sure it goes without saying but, if you are even remotely considering going to this school I would do a great deal of research to find out exactly what happened in Belize to force the move.

Above is the link for the the St mats fourum. (I think the site is down right now but try agian in the near future. It is usually pretty reliable)

Hope this helps.

Why in the world would you even consider St. Matt's??? (No...that was not meant as a flame...but supposed to be a reality-smack in the face.)

With all the turmoil within their administration, you should give this school a few years to determine whether or not they will survive. :( There is a tremendous amount of in-fighting, they were run off the island of Ambergris Caye and out of Belize, they postponed all of spring semester's final exams, made students travel to Cayman (just a "bit" of an added expense) to take the exams, have a shoddy ability to recruit and keep good faculty.

Their application with California has floundered (not that Calif approval is the end-all but today, it looks doubtful that approval will be granted) and the Florida commission is taking another look at them, as well.

If you have any other legitimate options, don't even think of St. Matt's.

Cheers

Thanks for the info.

I was only curious as to the reasons why they moved. I'm really not considering St. Matthews or any Caribbean school at the moment, for personal reasons. I did at one time, but not anymore. Still, since I received an old info packet from them when they were in Belize and received an unsolicited one again a few days ago that showed the new address, I became a bit curious.
