Hey!

Just a quick question for those of you who've gotten interview invites from Stanford recently - I've heard some people say that they got theirs on email. I know that they were only sending them out by snail mail at the beginning of the year. Have things changed?

So, basically what I want to know is - for those of you who've gotten an invite from them over the past month or two, did you get the news by email or regular mail??

Brando,
I got an invite in early march via snailmail. I think it was postmarked March 2. I didn't get any email notification. I heard they are interviewing well into April.

The MSTP invites via email, but the regular MD invites come via snail mail.

I think that's where the confusion came from.

Good luck,

Adam

Hi Original,
I don't mean to sound nosy, but do you mind telling me what your stats were? It's just that I will be going to Med School in the Bay Area, and was wondering if my BF had a chance for an interview at Stanford so we could be close. He's gotten accepted to lots of places in the East Coast and SoCal, but I just wanted to know if the Big Fish is within his grasp! Thanks a lot! :)

I don't know the answer to your question (didn't apply to Stanford,) but I just wanted to say congratulations on the invite to brandonite! Knock 'em dead!

Hmm. Thanks. I'll email them and see. Mail takes like two weeks to get up here, so I don't want to get the notice of an interview the day before or anything...

And, I'm fine giving out my stats. They're just somewhat misleading, given the limited amount of success I've had so far.

MCATs: 38-40Q (32P in April, rewrote)
GPA: overall 3.82, Science: 3.95
ECs: lots of student gov't, lots of research in Astronomy, lots of community volunteer work, but no hospital volunteer work. :(

Good luck to your bf!

Thanks Brandonite, and good luck to you too on getting an interview!

Hey Thumper,

My stats are nothing special. 33S MCAT and 3.8 UGPA. I think they "dig" my MS in math and my ECs moreso than my stats. In anycase, I hope you and your BF get to be together. Long distance relationships are fishy. Good luck :)

Sorry, should've made that more clear. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

Thanks Original, for your reply and your e-mail!
I have another question, though. Anyone know what's up w/ the Stanford Status Check page? All it has is the name of the applicant, the date of their secondary submissions, and that's it. It is absolutely infuriating to check it and see the same F***ing page EVERYDAY! :p For crying out loud, they should at least say something about whether they are considering you (so you can have some hope) or if you are SOL and should move on. Did you have any changes on your Status Check page after the interview invite? Also, would you suggest writing the school to see where you stand in the applicant pool? Thanks everyone!

I guess he's gotten some criticism before. If I run in to him again, I'll give him your suggestions.

Sorry, should've made that more clear. :(•••••Oops. I thought you were just curious and asking how others in the same boat as you got their invite. (probably reading too fast.)

Well anyway, Good luck on getting an interview there. I'm still rooting for you. :)

Well, I just talked to them and there's still no decision. :( Oh well. Another week's wait. Thanks for the help/support, everybody.

And I still can't log into the status check website. So, you guys are about 10 steps ahead of me that way. :(

Good luck to all of us!

Thumper,

The page is not updated after one gets the invite. I called Stanford a couple of hours ago to ask whether I might get an MD/PhD invite as well. I had called them 2ce last week but didn't get anyone that could tell me anything. I spoke with Cassandra Cooter today and withdrew my application after finding out that an MSTP interview wasn't happening for me. Hopefully your BF's and Brando's chances for an invite have just gone up  . Good luck! I'm definitely rooting for y'all.
