Has anyone considered applying to either one of these schools? I'm asking because I'll be moving to the Bay area next year and being a nontrad married mommy of a 3y/o I have only these 2 choices for schools.

:hello:

both are incredible schools. stanford is very research-oriented. UCSF has a great curriculum, teaching, and most likely better clinical training. if you want to be a research scientist go to stanford, otherwise UCSF (if you are lucky enough to get into both). if you are lucky/skilled enough to get into both or UCSF only (my dream school that rejected me) i will be INTENSELY jealous but will acknowledge you know as my leader.

you really can pick 'em.....good luck. even those with great scores and grades are definitely not locks for these schools. if you are really committed to being a doctor (and no offense here at all) you might have to expand your list of schools.

Both are great schools- I'm currently hoping for UCSF. Depending on where you'd be living, UC Davis or Touro (DO school) might be options as well.

Ditto this. Both schools have turned away plenty of near 4.0/36 students every year. These are schools you don't feel bad being denied admission to, just because their standars are so high. Neither one are pure numbers. Both are looking for fit and Stanford also emphasizes research more heavily than most schools. Best of luck...
