A friend of mine just got an interview at Stanford and it's mid-march. I was under the assumption that they have stopped interviewing. Does anyone know how good your chances are of getting an acceptance once you interview?

They are interviewing until the middle of April.

Like mpp said, your chances at Stanford are better than just about anywhere else once you interview. And, if they want to accept you but they've already handed out their quota for the year, they will give you a spot in next year's class. I wouldn't hesitate to wait a year to go to Stanford if I didn't get in to another great school...

I interviewed there about three weeks ago and they said they have only accepted ~60 students so far, so they are only about a third full. They also said they will interview through April, so keep your eyes open for that letter and good luck, I loved the place...classroms were a little dingy but the rest of the campus more than makes up for that

I was told that they're working on their last batch of applications. However, they aren't close to filling their spots yet. I haven't heard back yet for an interview. Still waiting... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

I contacted them a few days ago and they said that they are trying to finish interviews by the end of April but they may continue into May. So there is still a LOT of hope. They also said "please be patient with us"

I just sent my weekly email to Patricia :) and she told me that the Dean has a couple HUNDRED files on his desk to go through. So, those of us waiting might be here for a while.

C'mon Stanford, PlEASE INTERVIEW ME!

I second that motion, brandonite. They should definitely interview you!!! I'm betting they will. :D :) :D

•Last year they interviewed 593 people and accepted 198...chances are about 1 in 3.•••••Wait, 33% is good? Most of the UC schools i have interviewed have approximately 50% chance. Why do you say 33% is good? Unless this number is good considering Stanford? :)

BTW guys, I was rejected from Stanford post-primary :( The reason I ask is that my friend has only had 2 interviews so far and she hasn't been accepted at this stage of the game yet.

I think your chances are more like 1 in 5 at all of the other top ten schools. At least they were last year. And they screen before secondaries, so if you get a secondary, you automatically have a better chance at getting an interview. I really like that. No sense having us all go through the motions if we have no shot at getting in...

I've only had two interviews so far, with no acceptances as well. :( Mind you, I've been told by several adcom members at my state (provincial) school that I won't have a problem there, but you never know until you get that letter...

So, Stanford always has been my top choice, and at this point, I'd do whatever it takes to even get an interview there. Any advice???

Stanford is still interviewing, I just got an invite today via e-mail (be careful, my invite had no subject, and the e-mail address did not indicate that the message was from Stanford, I almost missed it in my junk mail box!) There is still hope! :)

Jessica,
did your status page change on their website? I just deleted all the stuff from my junk mail box without really carefully reading it.

See, you are really a super applicant! Med schools just love you! :p

I usually just delete all of my junk mail stuff without really inspecting it (I don't know how, but I think I am on every spam list on the planet, and they all send me 50 messages a piece every day) so I lucked out that I actually decided to click on this message. I was literally a millisecond away from deleting everything!

And on the scheduling site, there were interview dates through April 11th available, so hopefully that means there are still some more invites to be sent out :)

Brandonite - at least Duke showed you some love  They threw me into the reject pile (that makes two reject piles I am in, Baylor wasn't chasing me down either)! So there goes your theory! :D

Jessica - well, I guess I do have Duke. :) At least until I get rejected on Friday. :( But you have sooo many more schools. I try not to count - it makes me feel slightly less inferior. :p

And, I'm pretty sure they send out a letter via snail mail. At least they used to. The email thing must be new. So, even if you did happen to delete the message, then you'd just have to wait for a week or so to get the good news. :)

Thanks for the info Jessica!

I also just received notice that they are inviting me for an interview, but the notice came in via snail mail.

i just called them...said they would be interviewing till mid april and MAYBE even into May.
