Starsweet,

How did your interviews go at UGA and South? Inquiring minds want to know!!

Haha, ok well here goes. 🙂 I had UGA first, on Tuesday, and it was their first interview session of this cycle. First we had a 45 minute essay and everyone had a different topic which had nothing to do with pharmacy. Then each of us took turns interviewing with 3 faculty members (there were 4 of us interviewing that morning). While we were waiting some of the students came in and answered our questions. It was extremely informal, you almost forgot that you were gonna be called in for an interview in the next couple of minutes. Then the interview itself was pretty straightforward - they asked the usual stuff, and asked about some low grades I had one semester. They didn't try to impress us as much as Mercer did. It was like they were saying, hey, we know we are a great school, we don't have to tell you that. It is very difficult to get in, one of the guys who was also interviewing was applying for the third time. And of course, UGA's campus is huge, but you can literally never leave the pharmacy school building if you don't want to (as one of the students said) because all your classes/classmates will be there.

South was quite different. I was surprised that the campus was literally 2 buildings. Once you are there they remind you throughout the day that they have a hard program because it's so compressed and to be prepared for that. There was an essay that we were instructed to complete during the duration of our stay. During the tour, the students didn't seem overly enthusiastic about their school, however, maybe that was their personalities. They were nice, just not very outgoing. South has some strict rules about not eating/drinking in classrooms, and a business casual dress code. The eating/drinking thing kinda surprised me. No water in classrooms? There were about 30-40 (I think, it was a lot) there, and each of us had an interview with 2 faculty members. It was very low key and the interviewers were very nice. In my second interview we did more talking than answering questions. All the questions I was already familiar with from SDN and my other interviews.

Sounds like you had two very different, but overall positive experiences. Did they say when you will likely hear from them? UGA sounds like an ideal pharmacy school and it is always nice to be in the first interviewing group. Did that guy who was interviewing for the third time elaborate on why he feels that he was not accepted the last two times? Just curious... Wishing you lots and lots of luck! :luck:

I think UGA said March or April, and South in the next 2 weeks or so. :scared: That guy said that he didn't have a degree the first 2 times and that when he interviewed the first time, they told him they would like him to come back with a degree. This confused me, however, because a large percentage of the students at UGA's pharmacy school don't have degrees. So maybe it was something else as well... 😕

Good luck to you as well! I'm sure you did great at USN! 😀

Hey Starsweet, congratulations!!! I am sure that you will get into many of the schools that you applied to. We applied to a lot of the same schools, so I am really interested in how your interviews are going. Keep me posted!

Thanks! Definitely keep me posted too! Is that a golden retriever I see in your pic? 😛

It sure is, her name is morgan and she will be three years old in april. What's yours' name? Aren't they the best dogs?!? Mine is such a sweetheart, she couldn't be better behaved!!!

I love them too, they are the best!! I had one named Comet who lived until he was 14 years old, he died in November. 🙁 He was so sweet. Then we got another one last May, Shelby, the one in my pic. He is sooo hyper! He's crazy. I think we picked the most hyper one out of the litter. We're hoping he will calm down in a few years!

Comet, like the dog on Full House 🙂 I always thought that dog was so cute. My Morgan was a maniac when I first got her, but she started to calm down at about 2 years. They say that Golden Retrievers are 2 year puppies, so don't worry - you're almost there!

YES, that's how we got the name! I was 10 years old at the time, my sister was 7, and we loved that show! And we got Shelby's name from the golden retriever on Smallville!

Wow, 2 years!! You're probably right, I think it took even longer for Comet to calm down. They are great anyways though!

So do you think golden girls are calmer than golden boys? We were wondering about that, we ended up getting a boy again cuz it was cheaper. 🙂
