Ok I this past month i have been starting to review 1-2 hours a night for step1. Basically i review 1st year material and do corresponding questions and such. Is this too early to begin, or will i not remember anything? or is a slow steady review for a whole year a solid way to go? anyone else do this and have good or bad luck with it? any advice would be appreciated thanks!

a dean at my school had this advice. study your 2nd year material very well. don't worry too much about the usmle. in about feb, start organizing your old review notes. then with about a month, study full time for the boards.

i followed that advice for the most part. i can't stress the first part. learn your 2nd year stuff very very well. it'll help u a lot when it comes review time because you'll find reviewing easy. i think some people in the forum studied a little everyday, but i think you'll forget things very quickly, especially if you're reviewing the nitty gritty biochem stuff. don't waste your time. just do well on your 2nd year classes.

No better advice than this. You will regret not learning everything about thyroid endocrinology, contraceptive pharmacology, and kidney pathology, just to name a few. You will not regret taking only 8 hours on anatomy review, rather than one week. I say jump completely into the current coursework, and start reviewing in January with questions, and hardcore reviewing in March (assuming early June test).

Waaaaaay to early. You' will not remmber what review now when all that 2nd year material starts crowding out stuff in your head. save review for the end. Concentrate on learning 2nd year material well, it is very HIGH YIELD.

when i think 2nd year, i think pathophysiology.
i think most schools teach most of that 2nd year regardless if they're organ or traditional based.

what is a good pathophys books if our 2nd year path blew and didn't learn a whole lot? B&W? Or just stick with BRS? I'm mainly concerned with boards, but gotta have a good underlying basis before jumping into a boards rvw book, I would think. I also have some time as we have rotations starting this yr as M2. What would u guys recommend to really learn pathophys well and to study for boards too (since I don't think I learned it very well when it was taught--our course just sucked really bad, did entire path in 3.5 months). PLease advise. Thanks
