I've been reading in a couple interview feedback posts that some of the schools are concerned with applicants knowing certain state laws for practicing optometry. I'm having trouble interpreting some of the stuff in the 500 page PDF files of the rules and regulations of practice. Can anyone offer a quick run-down of the main differences of laws between some of the states? I hear California in particular is concerned with this. Little help?

As far as I know they'll only ask you about the laws in your state and maybe the state that that particular school is in. (correct me if I'm wrong!)

Yes, that's what I'm referring to.

I dont think the optometric laws for any state are 500 pages unless that's something else you're referring to.. go to your state's board of optometry website and you should find everything there that you need! 🙂

check in the optometrists forum. theres a link on the AOA website that you have to have membership for. one od emailed it to me. if you want me to forward it to you give me your email address

wow, that is ridiculous!! you weren't kidding 🙁

Stick to the state legislation governing the profession. Usually called the "optometry act" of <fill in the blank>.

That 500 pages is 500 pages of state board bylaws, regulations and guidelines...NOT LEGISLATION... Far too much for anyone to expect an applicant to read. Though it might be useful to skim a couple of sections there.
