Hi all,

Planning to spend Spring semester MCAT prepping and take it for the first time in April or May 2019.

I was wondering if anybody had experience with any local university MCAT prep courses. I was planning on taking one offered at my local state university, as it's significantly cheaper than TPR, Kaplan, etc. Was wondering if anyone on here had done one of these at their local university and if so, what they thought of it.

I consider myself a good test taker, but would really like a structured content review leading up to my test date, so this seems like a good option for me.

Would love to hear others' questions/comments/concerns/advice.

Thanks!

I'm from a state where Altius is the main MCAT prep program that has a significant hold on multiple universities in the state. I found Altius to be effective, but I'm not convinced that a program will get you a great score. A lot of the benefit that I found from Altius was due to the fact that I was surrounded by a ton of peers that were enrolled in the same program, so we could study and bounce ideas off of each other together. This effect may also help at your state unversity if lots of students are taking the program. However, overall, the importance is utilizing quality materials from respected test prep companies and staying disciplined.
