I really hate asking stupid questions like these, but I am worried as usual. I just got rejected by one of my state schools, U of Miami, pre-interview. I am really freaking that if a school that gives preference to FL residents would dump me, I have next-to-nothing chances at any school out of state that I applied to. I hope it doesnt work this way and I am worrying for nothing, but some imput would be nice. 🙂 Thanks. :luck:

You never know till you get the rejection letter. Try to stay positive. I know that it is very difficult to do so though.

Don't even give it a thought! It might be anecdotal, but I have been put on hold/waitlisted by all three of my state schools and accepted elsewhere.

Don't worry. I've been rejected by one of the state schools and gotten more than you can count on one hand of interviews out of state. No worries...its still early!

I think this is one of those "getting into med school is a crap shoot" topics. You just don't know what motivates them to reject some and accept others. Yeah, it's supposed to be more likely that you would get into your "in state" school vs. out of state, but everyone I've known to apply to medical school got rejected from their in state schools and got in at out of state schools. Go figure. In fact, I completely thought that most students attended out of state schools, until I applied myself and found that many schools show preference to in staters. It's weird, but I wouldn't over analyze it. Just because your in state school rejected you doesn't mean a thing at the other schools. Maybe you should take up my new mantra . . . "It's a crap shoot. It's a crap shoot." Best of luck at your other schools! :luck:
