Does anyone know of any states that allow you to change your residency status once you are attending school there?

I have heard that in New York, if you own a house you are considered a resident.

Any others?

Buffalo, Kentucky, any of the texas schools...

i am also very interested in this

i hear it's really easy to establish residency in california. dunno the specifics.

NYU is a private school, so I don't think there's a difference in its price tag whether you're a resident or not. But I'm not 100% sure. I know UNLV allows change in your residency status after a period of 12 months immediately prior to the 1st day of starting classes.

The requirements are:
-California Income Tax
-Proof of continuos residency in Cali for 12 months (utility bills, lease agreements, etc.)
-CA driver license.

Of course, different schools may have slightly different requirements.

So is your question which state schools allow you to become a resident for in state tuition costs? Or is it just residency status change in general? UNLV & Ohio St. can be added to your list.

I looked on California's DMV website, you need residency to get a CA driver's license and you're saying one needs a CA driver's license to establish residency?! Oy...

I would like to know if UW allows this as well, anyone know? That would be a huge amount of savings.

So Ohio St allows you to change residency? What about CASE? Anyone know about them?

private schools residency doesnt matter... Only for maraquette it matters b/c Wisconsin gives 10k for residents when they attend their state school or something like that.

what if you start living in the state when you attend the dental school....ie i get in class of 2011 start living in august of 2011 and then for the first year pay out of state tuition and the remainder 3 years should be instate?
