if 72800 ppl applied to pharmacy school this year and there are around 90 schools of pharmacy...that will give an average of 800 per school...which...if each school take an average of 90 ppl that will give us 1/9 chance to get in a school....
which...given a qualified(meet all the requirements to apply) applicant, if one applied for more than 9 schools...from high ranking to low distributed equally...then one should have a 99.9% chance of acceptance....
but usually the 0.1% take place because ppl do not randomly choose their schools to apply or attand. Also the differences in preferences of certain schools and the applicants.
Interesting?
I really think wait listing can drive someone crazy. me as one example.

i think Requiem meant to say that one's chances of getting accepting to individual schools are not additive in the way you made it out to be. The lesson is that even if you don't put all your eggs in one basket, it doesn't guarantee acceptance.
