Hey guys,
I'm a ChemE major at UT and for our coursework, we are required to take Engineering Statistics. I know many schools require a statistics credit and I was wondering if this Engineering Statistics class would satisfy this requirement or do i have to take another math stats class all over again?

contact specific schools would be my advice.

I would contact the schools you plan to attend. They can answer best.👍

Edit: got beaten to it😉

Just out of curiosity, does your stats class have an ENGR or MATH designator? This sounds like it's indeed a case-by-case basis, rather than an across-the-board answer. Hopefully the schools at the top of your list accept it. 🙂

That doesn't always cut it either. I took a 2000 level stats course and the Business stats course I needed for my B.S. (which was the same thing) and I still had to take a 'higher level' stats course to meet the requirements for one pharm school.

Some schools are really, really picky about stats and I do not fully understand why.

It seems schools have varying criteria. I have been fine for some schools req's with my AP score of 4, but some schools don't accept AP tests...sucks..

I hope it would be similar to Physics. Most schools I have looked at require Algebra based Physics but will accept Calculus based Engineering Physics. I would hope it would be similar with Stats and they would accept the Calculus based Engineering Stats.

Case by case, yeah yeah, but upper-division statistics of any sort (which ME 355 is) should be sufficient for most programs. If programs really want people to know the basics of study design, there should be some offering incorporated into the actual curriculum.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will contacting them then. Do you know if Pharm School's focus on pre-req GPA or overall GPA? My overall GPA is sub-par (well it's okay in my opinion), but my pre-req gpa is good. Just kind of worried because some Engineering classes such as Process Controls are bringing my GPA down a bit.
