Would you guys mind sharing your stats that got you into competitive peds residencies? Curious what it takes to land a good spot in 2019.

Many thanks and congratz to all!!

202/223/P Steps, HP and 1 P on rotations, PhD. I still got interviews at most of the top Academic Children's Hospitals in the West Coast and the Midwest, and then proceeded to rank them between 9-16 on my match last in order to rank IM and Med/Peds programs above them. I ended up matching into a upper mid-tier Med/Peds program/

Honestly, it doesn't take much, at least when compared to Med/Peds or IM which I was also trying to match in. Probably having a PhD helps, but honestly, it seemed that my passion for the field, personal state, along with what I can only imagine to be pretty strong recommendation letters. In comparison, my friend in med school had 240-ish step 1 with similar grades and ended up falling to a lower-tier program with no interviews to top 10 programs. I would say that Passion and Recommendations > Stats, at least in my experience unless a PhD is THAT important
