Stats of Applicants to Irish schools and Acceptance, Waitlist or Rejection

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There was a discrepancy in my credit card balance. I called my bank yesterday night and they told me I got charged by ABP earlier that day (March 14, 2012 Canada). I wonder if it's good or bad news. I applied to NUIG, TCD, RCSI. I e-mailed ABP yesterday about my application status but they replied today "No news for you as of today. You would receive news via the mail." I have mixed feelings.

I am applying to the 5 year programs at RCSI and Trinity. I was a nonscience major though and have done only the required premed courses (bio, chem, phys, orgo, and physiology). seeing that nearly everyone accepted was a science major, you think thats a negative for admission into the Irish schools? Also, my university is not a highly ranked US university.

Doubt your major will be of much impact. If they do have a preference towards science majors, it would only hurt you in a situation where your grades were borderline to offer acceptance/interviews. Yours seem to be high enough that the above is a non-issue. Not sure about school ranking, however, I do believe the same thing stands, and would only hurt you if your stats were already low.

You can still call ABP and query them, not sure how much info they'll give out. Try not to stress too much, all you can do is wait.

$33 or so? FedEx packages from ABP seem to run that amount for Canadians (give or take a few cents), and are always good news. They don't FedEx bad news.

Anyone know if ABP would tell you about your application status via e-mail (accepted or rejected)? It seemed like they know what's in the mail but they don't want to tell me over the e-mail so I have to wait for the mail they sent out yesterday. I hope they are not FEDEX-ing a rejection mail!

Yeah it's 33$. They dont FEDEX bad news so how do I get bad news? Direct via email?

Plain letters or e-mails is what people have said from previous years. If you've been FedEx'd something it should be good.

Accepted to GEP at RCSI today!

Congrats! Goodluck to all the Americans and West Coasters still waiting!

Hey Salad! When you got accepted by UCC, was the mail sent out by ABP or direct from UCC?

Anyone who applied for the 5 or 6-year programs recieve any news from RCSI yet?

Congrats to everyone! I am definitely going to be attending RCSI in the fall. Super excited. Feel free to PM me if you are too!

Indeed. I received an acceptance offer last Saturday for RCSI's five-year programme. I'm based in WA, USA.

Congratulations, Relia and Silverstain!

I want to know if I am competitive for the Irish schools or not. Would it be a good idea to email ABP, and ask them about my chances. I want to plan accordingly while I still have the time, in case I don't get accepted. Does ABP give advice on the chances on an application?

Hello blazers,

I have a close friend here in Seattle that also applied to the five-year programme. She's a non-science major, as well, and Mr. Nealon and Mr. O'Keeffe said her chances were strong when she spoke with them back in October. Well, she was granted an offer from RCSI's five-year undergraduate med. programme last weekend, too, and will be attending. I won't post her stats here without her consent but hers are similar to yours and she's a US citizen.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to call. Have you ever spoken with the ABP staff? They're super nice and Mr. Nealon will pretty much tell you what's up and discuss the strengths / weaknesses of your app. I've called RCSI directly and they're pretty nice, too.

Congrats!!
How did you hear so fast from the six year program? Because people earlier on the thread said that the six year acceptances were just going to be sent out on Friday (which is today).

Either way, your stats are oustanding! Congratulations!!

Also, out of curiousity, is your offer conditional on certain marks?

Would it be okay to call Trinity and follow up on my application status? Or is it still too early?

I think you would have to call Atlantic Bridge since they'd probably know the answer better.

I'm sure it's fine to call now. But that's just my opinion.

Trinity is an incredible school... I'm in love with their library haha.

Rejections don't come via Fedex. Grab a Guinness! (if you are of age)

Yeah that's what I did, called Fedex. 🙂

It should be next week according to previous years. People got accepted on March 19th last year.
