Stats of Applicants to Irish schools and Acceptance, Waitlist or Rejection

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congratulations Moose88 - enjoy the rest of the summer and we'll see in you in September.

So it looks like only another two people got offers to UCD this round via email first.

Anyone else hear anything??

Have people found out they have gotten into UCD before with FedEx delivery and not email first? Fingers crossed that ABP didnt email everyone, and offers are on their way through the post. Although maybe thats not the case??

Congrats moose.

Kermicrzy, i am still anxiously waiting. No emails or post and on top, Canada post is still on strike - sighs!

I decided to take the 50 meter walk from my building to health sciences to talk to UCD med admin people in person. No sense emailing ABP to email them for them to email back through ABP.. Just seemed like a logical step.

Anyway from what I know is that offers are still going out and will do for some time (its not full people!!!). And at the moment they are sending out rejections.

When I talked to the lady she only seemed to mention GAMSAT cuttoffs and nothing else, so I think she assumed I was Non-EU applicant (and not ABP one). I think the fact that we submit all that extra crap with out applications (and not MCAt/GAMSAT scores alone) will def work in favor. But who knows, maybe its all a con and they only look at our scores.

Going to ring her back tomorrow since she was gone for the day and clarify all. I really hope they take letters of recommendation since one of mine was from the past head of school 😛 You would think they would like to keep UCD grads instead of kicking them out.

Just thought I would all let you know anyway whats going on here. Not sure if it was helpful or not, but knowing they arent full is great news!
🙂

Hey kermicrzy, I didn't get an email acceptance from ABP (in fact, I never got one at all!) - I only received the FedEx package in the mail out of the blue, but this was before the Canada Post strike. So it is definitely possible that ABP doesn't email everyone. Hope the offers are on their way!

Thanks -Appreciate the info. I hope the offers/rejections do head out soon, would be awful to prolong this wait till August!

Hi!

I am still waiting to hear anything back from UCD. I've been rejected from Trinity and Royal College during their first round of regrets.

I called Atlantic Bridge yesterday and they said that the next round of regrets from UCD will go out mid-July. I live in Canada and told them about the Post strike going on right now and they said that if I wanted too know sooner then I could just call and find out if I got in or not instead of waiting for a letter.

Just thought I would share that with everyone else also going crazy waiting to hear anything at all!

GL to everyone still waiting!

I didn't get an acceptance email either for UCD, so it looks like just the FedEX would be the way to know unless you ask ABP early. Gl Kermi! :luck:

Very delighted to say I got my acceptance personally from a member of admin in UCD. No FedEx fee for me!

So I assume more are coming out asap. They just wanted to send to my Dublin address since I am current UCD student, however I offered to pick it up personally. Never know with Irish post these days 🙂

Anyway here are my stats:
Degree: NUI Maynooth B.Sc (Hons) Biotechnology
GPA (Irish system): 68 (2nd class honours)
and UCD PhD Pharmacology/Physiology
GAMSAT (Ireland): 59 (20th percentile)

God I forgot what else Im meant to put here!

Hi, everyone, I am also waiting for an answer from UCD, emailed ABP, did not receive any response, anyone else waiting? Truthfully, I am losing hope day by day...

Yeah, Berat, I'm still waiting, as well. Have you heard back from ABP yet?

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed a sort of trend in the reported acceptances where most people get offers from:

-RCSI and UCC
-RCSI only
-UCD only
-Limerick only

I think the pattern mainly applies for the 4-year programs, but I'm not 100% sure. Not to say that it's a rule that's set in stone, since I think a few people have received offers from RCSI and UCD but not UCC. Anyhow, this thread is quite lengthy, so I'm just stating what I recall; maybe I'll glance through it more carefully later.

Thats terrible you havent heard anything back. Just ring them on the phone, then they have to talk to you 😀

They seem like a useless bunch to me

I haven't heard a response from them either. No offer or regret letter. I agree with kermicrzy I would suggest calling them.

I do not have to call anymore, unfortunately I received a rejection letter yesterday, it was not meant to be 🙁

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if all of you applied to the graduate entry program or are there people on this forum who applied to the undergraduate program?

I am from Ontario, Canada. I just finished my 3rd year of biology and psychology majors at the University of Toronto. I only qualify for the undergraduate program so I only applied to UCD and NUIG. I got a regret from NUIG but I'm still waiting to hear from UCD. Is anyone else in the same boat as me?

Berat, were you waiting to hear if you got into the undergraduate or postgraduate UCD medical program? Please let me know. May I also ask what your cGPA is and if you've written the MCAT, thanks!

I believe there are applicants to both the undergrad and graduate entry here. I personally belong to the GEM route.

I just received a regret from UCD, too bad. But I don't feel as bad about it as I thought I would. Anyway, this means I'm stuck in university for another year.

Studying: Biology and Psychology at UofT
MCAT: haven't done it
cGPA: 3.5

If I do the MCAT over the year and send out my scores before April to the Irish Medical Schools, and assuming that I do well in my 4th year, my GPA should go up to around 3.6, do you guys think I have a shot at the postgraduate entry program? Please let me know. Thank you everyone and good luck to you all!

When yall get an interview invite, do you travel all the way down there? Sounds expensive. I'm a U.S citizen thinking of applying to Irish schools, also thinking of practicing down there. Not sure how the whole process is. I'll be applying to med schools summer 2012.

Any help will be appreciated.

RCSI interviews for US applicants are conducted in New York sometime late February (at least that's where mine was; not sure if they hold another set of US interviews at another location).

Are you also applying to US schools next summer? If you submit your Atlantic Bridge app this fall, you could start in Ireland in Fall 2012 if you've fulfilled all the requirements to the schools you're applying to. But if you're giving equal or greater consideration to applying to US schools and practicing here, then it certainly pays to wait.

I have applied to medical schools this many times: 1 - in Canada and US; due to horrible MCAT scores, most likely rejected by all.

I'm applying for the 5-yr program at both schools and from what I've been reading, TCD (my first choice) is rejecting a lot of people... anyone have an idea why?

Just a heads-up to everyone that I meant to post a while back... I asked ABP what the deposit is this year, and it's 6,500 euros (close to $9,000 US!). Figured this would be good information for everyone to have now instead of when you get an acceptance letter and have 10 days to come up with it...

As a US citizen, when you graduate from and Irish GEM program, are you an MD? ...Or what degree do you hold when you go back to the US to do a residency?

Your diploma shows M.B., Ch.B., B.A.O. which is equivalent to an M.D. in the United States. An M.D. in Ireland and many European Nations is a higher degree, comparable to a Ph.D. or D.Sc.

I know many doctors who keep the MBChB while others and some hospitals will simply put MD just for the same of patient understanding/recognition.

Hey jalopnut86, were you offered the interview last week, or did it come today?
Also are you on the west or east coast?

Seems like only the east coast ones went out or coincidentally only people on the east coast that are on SDN got one.
