Is there any way this post can be deleted? I am not comfortable with this online due to anonymity issues( my school is quite small and I do not want to be recognized) thank you.

If you think your mental health can't keep up with the rigors of podiatry school, then your idea seems reasonable as long as you won't have any regrets and if you're comfortable with your career choice. You mentioned craving patient interaction, have you looked into occupational or speech therapy? Audiology? There's lots of these types if medical careers and we are always in great need for good people in those jobs.

I agree with AttackNME. Your health is the most important task at hand right now. I am not sure what program you are at but at least at mine, 2nd year was way harder than 1st year (at least for me) so I don’t know where you are at mentally to be able to make it through the book work. If you are really wanting patient interaction, have you looked into Physicians Assistant programs? Way less schooling and you would be able to see patients.

Your mental and physical health is extremely important. I have shadowed/worked with Pathology Assistants and they truly seemed happy. The direct patient interaction was minimal but they work environment felt like a family.

I know any path you choose you will do awesome.
Take care.
