Staying informed in the Pharmacy field

Hi, . I am looking to find new resources I can read to keep up with what is going on in the field of pharmacy.

At the moment, I get most of my information from fellow students, at work , SDN, Pharmacy times and MN pharm board website.

What resources do you guys use?

I got a free subscription to "Chain Drug Review." It's a mildly interesting rundown of the business side of things, if you're into that. Besides that, Pharmacy Times and US Pharmacist subscriptions can usually be found for free.

If you really want to stay informed, you should subscribe to the free electronic table of contents feature offered by many journals. Each journal's website has the information on their main page and the abstracts are generally free. I would stay away from journals that are not listed in medline (i.e. US Pharmacist) as that the quality of information is not as good. Don't read the enitre article, just read the abstracts. Its about an hour of time every week well spent.

For generalists, I would subscribe to:

New England Journal of Medicine
Journal of the American medical Association
Lancet
Archives of Internal Medicine
Pharmacotherapy
Clinical Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics

For new drugs I recommend subscribing to The Pink Sheet.

For clinicians, the best overall way to keep up is by purchasing the Pharmacotherapy Self Assessment Module (PSAP) offered by the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. Each edition is released periodically over two to three years and is a comprehensive review of pharmacotherapy with ACPE continuing education credit. It is well worth the money.
