I am not trolling. I am really curious. What is the general feeling out there among premeds regarding stem cell research. I am very much in favor, and most of the people I know are. But I know that this may not be the norm.

a poll would be nice. im also for stem cell research and i think its a step backwards for our government to prohibit it.

I'm doing it this summer (with human ES cells). I don't know how I feel about destroying embryos, but there are a variety of new techniques devised in the last year or so that can isolate embryonic stem cells without destroying an embryo, or can isolate the cells from an embryo which has been manipulated to be non-viable.

I have no trouble working with already isolated cell lines, though.

Stem cell research shouldn't be hyped as much as it is by the media, but it's definitely going to produce scientific advances in coming years.
