Step 1 Studying in College

Plucky or stupid?

If OP doesn't get in what then? All that information that he "learned" is just wasted. Not to mention the level of information you need to do well in the actual STEP is very detailed and details you'll likely forget 4 years after you've been reading the material. You might remember general broad concepts but the details of the Maple Syrup Disease? Furthermore, there's a way and technique/strategy to take STEP1 which you would learn by doing practice exams from UWorld. Knowing the information is not the same as knowing how to take the exam. This is why pre-studying if ****ing stupid.

I always tell this story of a HMS graduate who couldn't make it through my residency program and was asked to move on to a different field. I remember talking to him and asked what he did over the weekend. His answer? He studied for fun. Doing well on a single exam does not equate to being a good doctor. I'm sure his grades/exam scores were great and he actually tried hard but just couldn't perform clinically.
I mean it isnt surprising. Med schools breed people like this eventually. I kinda had to stop my other hobbies to study for my MCAT. Wanted to try powerlifting but that takes we too much time and prep.

Instead of using that hour per day to study for boards (which I agree is a waste of time-you will learn what you need to know in medical school), use that time to learn Spanish.
I was coming here to say this. Put your time toward Spanish. Or medical Spanish if you're already/close to fluent.

Yeah, that sounds reasonable. You’ll have to forgive me I recently went from studying 10-12 hours per day (MCAT) to little to no studying at all.

I’ve been itching at finding something new to study for haha.

I get this. When I finished my Master's degree, I was bored. So I decided that I wanted to be a part-time college professor in addition to my day job.

I mentioned studying Spanish above. You could study another language or take up golf or tennis or chess or something else that will keep you sane.
