Step 1 vs Step 2

I thought very little, if any. Step 1 is more about memorizing random things (biochem, anatomy, etc.). Step 2 is more about clinical context and was a lot easier to study for.

I agree with what you're saying about basic ssience minutiae but there's definitely an incredibly high amount of stuff that'll help with Step 2 if you study hard for Step 1. If you didn't don't be discouraged because Step 1 material can always be picked up. One definitely builds off the other.
This being said I haven't taken step 1 but I'm talking about stuff on the wards or in Uworld.

The diseases don't change and if a strong step 1 foundation absolutely puts you at an advantage assuming you continue to work hard!

On a similar topic, how much overlap or correlation is there with the shelf exams and Step 2? Didn't do fantastic on Step 1 but have been crushing shelf exams so far, and am hoping that is a positive sign for Step 2.

Very high, step 2 is basically the im shelf with Ob questions
