Your step scores alone put you right at the middle/low tier of competitiveness - If your clinical grades are mid-level as well, you're pretty much in the middle of the pack. If you are a US MD applicant, that is not a bad place to be. Make sure you do a couple away rotations and get good SLOEs. What helps you in this case is that your Step 2 is higher than your step 1 - EM in general places a lot of importance on the step 2 scores (at least this seems to be the trend). The reason of course is that the bulk of step 2 questions resemble the majority of ED scenarios (62 y/o, CP, SOB, diaphoresis of 3 hours, EKG showing inferior lead ST elevations - which of the following is contraindicated?)
