I’ve been waiting for over 1.5 months and still have a month to go. Felt terrible coming out of the test and even worse with this long wait period. I literally can not afford to fail this thing. I’m sure others are finding the wait similarly nerve wracking so I figured it would be a good idea make a thread. If I indeed pass, I’m going to create a comprehensive guide to Step 2 CS.

My exam is in Philadelphia next week. I'm a Canadian IMG. Reading about all these horrible experiences at that center is scaring me. Should I reschedule to a different center?

At the end of the day, I believe all of the notes are graded in Philadelphia. There may be bias, but personally I do not think it matters where you take it. It's a daunting exam and reading other people's experiences may instill that fear in you. Our anxiety can get the best of us and alter the way we present ourselves and take this exam. However, trust the hard work that you put in. On the day of the test, don't think of yourself as an IMG and portray yourself as a physician because you are going into these cases to display your clinical skills.

Thank you so much for your reply
Makes me feel a lot better.

Guys, I'm sorry to be a little bit off-topic, but can you please tell me at what time does the exam finish? I have mine in Philadelphia in the am (7:45am), and need to plan my trip. So I would appreciate it very much if you would tell me at what time did you leave the testing center.

Thanks!

The main cause of failure for IMGs is English then ICE.
1. For English: get six months prep: do a reduction course, then do baby books read aloud and then CS videos done by a native American doctor or actor doctor. Memorize the questions by imitations- never make questions of your own, memorize from videos you buy from a CS program(they are standardized pts). Do all cases on the videos imitating loud and slow but fluent. Listen to American TV and do loud imitation. Read after audio reads loudly daily for2-3 hours minimum. Do not use your mother tongue at all during this period
2. ICE: main cause of failure is typing speed. AMGs have an average typing speed of 60 words/minute. Get a free program eg . Typing club and practice on keybr for 2 months. Translate to all cases(long cases in first aid); then all ddx on first aid(imagine them as in long cases) best cases are case 22 and 11 outline. Practice to type at all times average 4 -6 hours per day as you practice on standard keyboard. Practice examinations can use pillows, talk and tape yourself. Make sure you talk throughout!!! As you give instructions on exam part!!! Practice to wash hands in less than 30 seconds.
