USMLE STEP 3 Trick Works!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Passed! Took test on 6/21. I checked shortly after midnight and the score was available. The permit trick worked for me.

PASSSSSSSSEEEEEEEDDDDDDDD 201!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FcFAB MD! OUT!

Trick worked for me! FSMB website showed "Expired" Monday morning, 7/22 and this morning score report appeared. The scheduling permit disappeared like right after my test (6/17, 6/22). I passed!!

USWA1: 168
USWA2: 183
Actual Score: 200

I didn't do well with Step 1 or Step 2 so this was such a relief for me!

My permit link disappeared. However, FSMB says still approved... probably have to wait till Wednesday lol... hope i wont have an infarct until then...

First day 7/6 and Second day 7/7.

also, crazy but i only felt good about CCS and treated all but one patient, which all are improved and cases took no more than 5 minutes.

First day was absolutely horrible. Second day questions were more of what i expected...

Update:
Expired link now. Do not see a yellow button.

"Your Step 3 application has expired. You may begin a new Step 3 application at your convenience."

Fingers crossed for everyone.

I see the status expired now. There is no button or anything else to reapply

‘Your Step 3 application has expired. You may begin a new Step 3 application at your convenience’

Trick worked. Passed with 196 (WOW). God is so good. This forum has been a lifesaver for me. This test truly had me on the brink of depression...couldn't pass for 1 year. This was my 3rd attempt.

I will post more in-depth of my experiences shortly. !!!

WOW! Congrats! So happy for you!

Good bye USMLE, you will never be missed for sure

Passsseeeddddd!!!! So elated. Im not a good test taker. This was my second go. I was Soo worried. Thanks for this thread. So happy to say goodbye to USMLE forever!!!! And yes I agree they really do just mostly want our money. Man the usmle makes bank on each candidate through all three exams and an entire test prep industry!

Yes absolutely. The first 2 times I didn't focus much on qbank. I just did qbank half-heartedly and also read first aid step 3 in depth. The last time I made qbank my main resource. It is key to read the explanations of qbank as well. I also obtained a pass to ccscases.com, which is good practice with real-time scoring. The CCS will also be hard but if you do certain things like always order a focused PE on emergent patients, and a full physical on clinic patients, smoking cessation, safe sex counseling, pregnancy test on every female with abdominal pain (unless she is 60 of course), you will get a lot of low hanging points.

Keep in mind I barely passed this 3rd time (lol). But the MCQs on the day 1 and 2 are hard. Just know that. But you will make educated guesses and go with your hunch. I remember changing a few questions the last minute and it ended up that my first intuition was correct. You guys are smart and did Step 1 and 2CS and 2CK, so keep up the good work! You will pass.

I also recommend spacing out day 1 and 2 if you can. They are both long days. This is the only usmle exam that spans over multiple sessions.

Other advice I have, the ethics is super tough. I wouldn't prepare much more than the qbank because the questions they put on are just ---- hard. Put that extra time into biostatistics preparation. That is easy points from just memorizing formulas.

Please message me for anything. I want to help and give back

Wow! Thank you so much! Great advice!
I have my exam next week and then day 2 is a week from day 1. I’m scared to death but I’m just going to bite to bullet and take it. I’ll take SA 1 and 2 this weekend and see what I get..
I feel like no matter how much you prepare..you can never know everything that they might throw at you...uhhh
Go celebrate now!

Also not sure if this matters but I didn't take the practice assessments. The score would just psych with my head especially bc 1 test is supposed to drastically underestimate the actual score!

Understood but why would you risk it that way? Seems you were very very close to not passing and i am very happy you didnt but for future reference, I would very much recommend taking practice exams!!!

You are right. Thank you. I was running out of time and knew I had to take it for a deadline I had to make, so didn't want to be discouraged about a poor self-assessment score. But you are right, every practice question that we can do, we should!

hello , I am new here
just wanted to share my experience.
first of all I am 62 ( yes, 62!). just finished my FM residency.i I am not very good test taker, although my in service exams were pretty high scores.
this was my 4th attempt. all previous was with failing for 1-2 points. study material- as usual- kaplan, usmleworld, fisher lectures, archer lectures...
CCS was not problematic for me at all. biostat was my nightmare.. i passed this time with 198.
my 3th attempt -i got yellow link- was direced to registration.. this time, grey- no link to reapply.
if you have any questions- message please, will answer
congratulations to those who passed, if you failed- keep preparing,, persistence is your friend

Dear friends,

First, congratulation for all who pass. I just got my second attempt result and failed 194 (missing by 2 points only). Am very sad. I don't know what to do. I read Uworld and first aid, I wrote many notes. I did very good in CCS case (I think) cause all of them ended very early and i knew the diagnosis. My 1st day was very bad cause the time was running in each block and i always miss the 4-5 last questions to read (just answered them without reading the question cause The time is done). Some mentioned qbank? whick qbank and what other resources should i use to do better in the MCQs?? how do you manage read these long questions and answer them quickly? please help am very depressed.

Thanks and i appreciate any advise.

you will do excellent ahmed. just think if you time managed and answered those questions, you would have gotten more questions right and gotten more points to pass! stick to world qbank. i wouldn't change anything for you. i would just do ALL uworld qbank in timed mode and master reading fast. this will help u on test day and ensure u finish the 4-5 questions in each block 🙂 assuming all else equal that will help u PASS

Keep going, Ahmed and never give up. Try to use timed questions when you practice UW questions. I wish you the best.
