I am making some picks for my 4th year schedule and wonder if anyone can give me a little advice.

I didnt do very well on Step I (200), and would like to be able to take Step II early. I want to go into OB-GYN, and the only available OB rotations are in September and October. I am going to be out of the country from June till the first of August. Is that going to give me enough time to study/take boards (and do well)? It would be ~1 month of time. I really don't think I should wait until November, but I suppose that is an option. Or I could drop one of my OB-GYN rotations.

Any advice out there? I'm a little lost.

And time is running low.

One month is plenty of time, especially if you're disciplined. In addition, I think it's better/easier to take Step II soon after 3rd year since it's clinically based. If you can do well it will help your interview #s versus taking it in November and waiting for those scores to roll in and open doors.

Good luck.

Thanks for the prompt reply, Koko. Sometimes it really helps to get some reinforcement!

You'll do fine. There are OB/GYN residencies that go unfilled in the country. You'll be able to find one! 🙂
