Just to clarify, if I am a student at a foreign school of dentistry and willing to continue my postgrad. education in the states, I have to do the following steps:

1- Getting graduated from my dental school.
2- Pass the NBDE Part 1 and 2.
3- Apply for the match with the specialty I am interested in.
4- Wait for the admission ..

If there are any other steps or things to consider I would be pleased to be corrected! 🙂

Thanks!

you cannot directly apply to the post grad in united states. you need to get the bachelors degree like DDS from here. ok here it goes:

graduate your school
after that take part 1 usually most of the colleges can give admission after part 1
then apply to advanced placement program for international dentists
complete 2-3 yrs of dental here get DDS
licensure exam
then proceed with your choice of branch of dentistry for post grad!

Urvashilal, thank you! that makes sense..

Do you know if I obtain a DDS from a US Dental School, will I be treated in the chance of acceptance in a postdoctoral (residency) like a regular US student?

Hi Urvashilal,

how about the acceptance chance at International Dentist Program?

is it easier to enroll in this program for a newly fresh graduate than waiting for two years or more after graduate ?

can you please tell me because i'm confused about that. i heard that they prefer experienced dentists on the newly graduate one.

You are also missing out on taking the TOEFL if you come from a non-english as a first language country.
