still no interviews....

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How many schools did you apply to and did you apply broadly?

I completed 19 secondaries and yes, they were pretty broad.

While we are on the topic, anyone care to give a ballpark figure on what percent of interview invites have been given out? Id say 75% but IDK

Well I applied near the end of August and finished my secondaries mid September. I was waiting for my MCAT score so I applied a bit late.

Hmm...Any good ECs? ECs you committed multiple years toward? Research? Interesting life experiences? Your GPA is a bit low, but nothing some interesting ECs can't compensate for.

I have 1.5 years of research experience with 2 publications in JOV, 1.5 years of clinical experience and still going, 2 years of translation experience at my church, and 2 years of being a Sunday school teacher (don't know if that's relevant).

Completing secondaries mid sept isn't exactly "late" persay, but with this cycle being particularly competitive it's far from early. Given your lower numbers, this could have been an issue.

What's your school list? I thought I had applied broadly last year, but no dice, I didn't really understand it.

Well, while these aren't too exciting (not judging, but they are pretty typical + cookie-cutter), they are still good ECs....maybe worth giving that PS a read over as well as the EC descriptions. Look for things that might turn off medical school admissions.

Yeah September is pretty late and that's probably the reason you're looking for. I completed my applications back in June/July and am still waiting to hear back from many schools, so I'd say just be patient. There are still several months left for interviews and many people are saying that adcoms have been lazy/slow this year.

Regardless, I hope you applied to some safety schools, especially since you applied late and your gpa isn't that great.

Good luck

Your GPA...you should know this already. Aside from sending some letters of interest, I doubt there is anything else you can do at this point.

If you applied broadly your GPA should be fine (it's certainly higher than mine) if you go to an upper tier university. I'm leaning toward something off with your LORs, personal statement, or essays.

Edit: in reality there may not be anything wrong with your app. You can still get invites in 2013, but definitely consider sending LOI(s). I have friends who didn't get interview invites until late in the cycle last year but were still accepted outright.

You applied late for someone with those stats.
