Still "pending review" at UCI?

According to an email from the admissions office at UCI my application was supposed to be up for review this week, but status page still shows "pending review". grrr. Oh well I've been waiting since mid August to hear back. I guess another week or so isn't gonna kill me.
 
wellll, my theory is just a theory : )
maybe they go by last names or something......like AMCAS.....so whoever has your particular last name and is reviewing your file may just be taking their time.....maybe reading and rereading your PS because it's so interesting....and an interivew invite may be on its way!!

I don't think they have gotten to all of the ones in early october if they are going in order, because I was complete 10/2.

My guess is they are screening a bit for good stats or applications, and interviewing those with better applications first. Who knows though!
 
I know for a fact that they aren't reviewing in order of submission. There were people who submitted their secondaries in November and already got interview invites.

Boo Hiss Boo!!! That SUCKS!! Oh well, what are we going to do about it, right?
 
i just hope uci isnt doing what ucla is doing with the random application review deal....
 
Has anyone who has recently gone under review at UCI received any word back yet as far as interview, hold or rejection?
 
so hey, do they email you when your app is under review? It sounds like some people here got notice.

I'm just going a little crazy since I have no way of accessing the status check page during the day.

Yep, Just a couple weeks back I went from "Pending Review" to "Under Review". The Wednesday before Thanksgiving I received my interview date in the email. I completed my supplemental file, with letters and everything in early October.

Here is my UCI story. I was complete on 11/17, then it went to "pending review" for a few days. Then it went to "Review in Progress" where it has been ever since. I figure as long as they don't put me on hold, it is a good thing.
 
Complete on 8/20. My status just officially changed to review in process yesterday. Hoping for the best.
 
same here. on 12/6, status changed to "review in progress." UCI's a longshot for me, but miracles do happen=)
 
alright...now i know its a random review process and mine is at the bottom of some pile...
 
well then i guess i'm in good company : ) i'm still pending too...
 
Man, I just want the interview so I can send in a letter of intent. I'm thinking it would be dumb to do so before I was even interviewed, don't you? I go to UCI now, so I know everything about it. What do you guys suggest for someone still pending review and who want's to go to the school?
 
i would suggest you go down to the admissions office and say "hey, i really wanna go here, so if you guys have anyone who doesn't show for an interview, here's my pager, cell phone number, email etc, call me and i'll be over in ten minutes ready to interview".....
seriously...i mean it.....i interviewed there last year....and from the vibe that i got, it could work!!!! i mean, since you go there, you must live pretty close by....and it would also be a great way to get to know the secretaries....

Haha... no prob. I will do it after finals, which, by the way, I will be failing because of the withdrawal symptons I get after being off of SDN for too long!
 
Any news in the last few days? (especially you docquaker) I thought getting the status change to review in process would calm my nerves somewhat but it has actually done nothing but make my ocd status page checking even worse.

LOL. Great idea! Show some school spirit by wearing all UCI- affiliated gear and camping out in front of the admissions office. That might be my last resort: "On hold" for an interview since mid sept.---I'll give you something to 'hold on' to. UCI = Unorganized Committee Institution.
 
As of this morning I'm officially on hold for an interview at UCI 🙁 . more waiting...great
 
still "review in process" for me.... hoping for an interview.
 
maybe this offers a bit of hope - I was complete in early September and was "pending review" until last Friday when my status changed to "review in process". I was offered an interview today for an interview this month. Looks like there's still space for interviews in January and later.

Nope, I didn't do anything. I e-mailed them to ask the status of my application a month ago. They e-mailed back a few weeks later saying that they hadn't gotten to my file yet and it was going to the adcom "soon." If you're still "pending review," they haven't gotten to your file yet - I think where your file is on the pile is mostly random. there's still lots of interview time left though and they are just slowly reading through the files and granting interviews.
 
I think that they are changing the status on the UCI website. My application was under review, now its on hold. What does that mean? Do I still have a chance at an interview? I'm thinking its better than a rejection though.
 
I am so stoked... I got home, checked email and found the UCI interview invite in my in-box! My interview date is in early January. I was "review in process" since mid-November so hang in there everyone who is waiting.... anyone have any words of wisdom for the interview?
 
Complete 10/21 and now I'm "Review in Process" today, 12/10. So, in the next two weeks it should be determined whether my emotional rollercoaster goes up or down 😉

Congrats azpremed!! I'm so jealous and happy for you-- maybe more jealous though 😉
 
well at least you know its a random process mike...yours can go under review at any point it seems. lets just hope its sooner and not 3 months and 6 days later...

3 months and 6 days later.....FINALLY i am "review under process"

BOO...it took 3+ plus months to tell me i was gonna be on hold. excellent 😉
 
I'm "On Hold" too, jlee. What a sucky lunch break...

emotional rollercoaster going down....
 
My application was completed on 11/17 and had been in the "pending review" status until last Monday when they emailed me an interview invitation. I did not even go through a "review in process" stage. I am applying for the MSTP, so the process might be a little bit different. I am a August MCATer.

Complete 10/15 and still pending 🙁 lessismoe was complete 10/20 and went to review in progress 5 days ago! Do you think different people are in charge of different last names and mine is just slow as heck?? Oh well, I'll just have to keep on keepin' on, right?

Oh, and I wonder, on average, we can expect to wait until our "on Hold" changes into something more ominous... I'm not even daring to hope right now 🙁

This stinks!! If I were a single gal, this wouldn't be a problem, but now that I have to worry about my husband coming along too, I'm pidgeon-holed with only 3 possible schools: UCI, UCD or U of Hawaii.

I was so depressed by the "Hold" from UCI yesterday that I had a massive quesadilla binge. Between this stress and the cholesterol level I must have today, I fully expect to have a heart attack before I hear anything else from UCI.
 
i was complete in mid october and they just changed my status to review in progress.....which is still just as vague...sad how we'll grab on to the littlest signs of hope.....but, for everyone still waiting for an interview, i'll keep my fingers crossed--for all of us!
