Still waiting, but at least no one else got into any of the schools I applied to yet!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

I still didn't get any allopathic acceptances yet, although I have two DO acceptances already (PCOM and NSU COM).

I don't feel too bad, though, because nobody got into any of the schools I applied to yet. No one reported any acceptances to my schools on SDN and I haven't met anyone yet who got into any of them. So technically, I'm still a superior applicant. Since I only applied to ten top 15 schools, I am still a superior applicant to everyone else. The only reason that I haven't been accepted yet is because the schools I applied to are more selective and start giving out acceptances much later into the application cycle. Heck, I won't even be hearing from some of my schools until the spring. I have been on most of my interviews already, and so far they all went great.

So when I think about it, I will most probably get into an elite medical school. I'll just have to wait longer, since I didn't want to bring myself down to a low level by applying to inferior schools (besides 3 DO schools).

thanks for clearing that up. i was beginning to worry

Uhm SnS, i thought you said you applied to Vandy. There are plenty of people on SDN that have made it in there ( plus i know a few in real life).

I didn't apply to Vandy. I said that my girlfriend applied to and got into Vandy. And she also got into SUNY Downstate and UMich this week (No, I didn't apply to those either). If I would have applied to Vandy or UMich I would have been accepted already since I'm a much stronger applicant than her.

ten top 15 + 3 DO? why such extremes? why not 10 top 15 and 3 middle-tier? they're not backup schools unless you're actually willing to attend. but you have to admit that it'd be pretty funny if gf went to vandy and you were off to omm-ville.

SnS You are my hero.

what's your girlfriend's name? FartnSneeze?

no, it's lie and smell

Lets get this straight. You applied to 10 top 15 schools, but you didnt apply to umich, because you're superior to umich, but umich is ranked number 8. So that means only 7 schools are "worthy" for you to apply to yet you said you applied to 10 top 15.

Thank you for your the daily comedic break you give me 🙂

SnS- Let's see the list of schools you applied to and where you have interviewed.

You are a tool and probably won't get into any of your schools.

If you were so "superior" then why are you posting looking for reassurance?

I applied to Harvard, Hopkins, Columbia, Duke, Yale, UPenn, Stanford, Cornell, Washington U. (St. Louis), and UCSF.

I also applied to PCOM, NYCOM, and NSUCOM.

I interviewed at most of them and I have 3 more coming up within the next month.

I already got into PCOM and NSUCOM.

The reason it doesn't bother me that I didn't get any MD acceptances yet is because none of my MD schools started giving out acceptances yet. Most of them are actually on a non-rolling schedule.

Yeah, you won't know what you are doing until March at the earliest. Cornell did say they would give out a few early but I wonder what that is based on. What's your first choice?

Well, I guess I believe him, does anyone else?

My first choice is Columbia. It's both highly ranked and in New York, which is a big plus. Although turning down Harvard again (like I did for undergrad because of my financial aid package and several other reasons) would leave me with a heavy heart. So I guess that Harvard and Columbia are my top choices. I really liked Cornell, but I don't think I want to attend a school that is out of the top 10. In the end I'll (hopefully) be making a tough decision.

For the same reason that I applied to Cornell. I applied to osteopathic schools for backups.

Not yet🙁 . But I also don't know anyone else who did.

If it makes you feel any better, I got waitlisted 🙁

Squat N' Squeeze, I think I'm not the only one here that's puzzled at your choice of Cornell AND DO schools as "Backups".

Oh gosh, Cornell as "backup"...I hope you don't say that out loud cause you're gonna get beaten up 😛

Squat,
Where are you still waiting to go interview? Have you already received invitations from all?

I'm glad that I didn't apply to any of the schools you listed, because you seem like a quintessential jerk. Why do people like you decide to pursue a career in medicine? Now I know why doctors get a bad rep.

Yo Squat n Sneeze,

What's your profile like? I.e. what extracurriculars/volunteer stuff did you do that made you so competitive? It would help me out (I'm actually at Cornell..... undergrad)
