For those who accepted the offer- did you put a deposit for housing? I saw when I paid the acceptance deposit that I had the option to choose housing deposit too but not sure what that implies. Anyone with more info?

I think you should submit the housing deposit if you plan on living either on campus like in the dorms or in campus apartments which are near by to the school. If you plan on living at home or if you have an apartment already (which is separate from being affiliated with the school) then you probably don't need to pay it.

So is that deposit for the summer or fall? Bc we only have 2 classes I. The summer ill prob commute but then move closer for the fall I think.

In that case I would probably just submit the housing deposit so you cover yourself from all sides. Or alternatively you can email Cathy (the person you sent your supplemental application to) and she can probably point you in the right direction!

I'll call her tomorrow. Thanks 🙂

Asked about housing. It's for the fall but as transfer students a spot isn't guaranteed. Anyone received a financial aid package?

wow that is actually really good info. And its a shame that "transfer" students aren't guaranteed housing. Being in suffolk though you might be able to find super affordable housing nearby.

With regards to financial aid, the financial aid office told me that we would be packaged for loans in May.

Good to know. I left a message for financial aid but still waiting. I was checking out their housing prices and honestly it is pretty cheap considering so I was bummed to find out it wasn't guaranteed bc I would totally move to campus. Also something I didn't know- parking is free on some lots!!

I didn't know that either! I thought we had to park in the hospital lot and pay for monthly parking. Good info!

If you commute it's free (so no overnight) but if you do over night the most expensive is $300/year (which isn't too bad).

I take that back- overnight is free! http://naples.cc.sunysb.edu/Admin/HRSForms.nsf/pub/PRKD0006/$FILE/PRKD0006.pdf

I've parked at South P Lot with commuter parking permit plenty of times and took the bus to HSC. I'm considering Chapin... under $500 with everything included... + room mate. So convenient... so close to HSC.

Are we considered... undergraduates? So we can't apply for graduate housing?

Gary I think we're considered undergrads so prob can't do Chapin.

Just talked to housing and we're considered undergrad transfers until we reach our grad status mid-program. So we can't apply for grad housing until then :/

Gary - Financial aid told me that FAFSA has to indicate undergrad. It's an easy fix.

So if i already have a bachelor:

When you begin the 2013-2014 school year, what will be your grade level?
5th Year/Undergraduate
Would be correct?

and

When you begin the 2013-2014 school year, what degree or certificate will you be working on?
2nd Bachelor
Would be correct?

That's upsetting 🙁.
What to do now...

yes, I put 5th year/undergrad and 2nd bachelor for the next section.

Thank You. What will you do about housing? Does anyone know what the schedule will be like for the summer.... or fall?

No but I'm gonna call next week to find out when we can register for class. Bc since we are undergrads we can prob choose what time to take the class.

I live in Plainview so I will be commuting to school.

So I guess we don't have a choice after all. Lol

I live in Massapequa Park and I am commuting as well. Now need to figure out where the free parking lots are if I can save money for parking. has anyone gone on SOLAR yet to register for classes?

Are we supposed to register or do they do that for us since the schedule is set and finite?

I thought they would register us too since we don't have choices. As for free parking they have a list on the site. I think there are 2 main free ones kind of far but there is a shuttle that can bring you back and forth (I'm pretty site that's what it said on the site). I'm gonna commute in the summer and move to campus if I can in the fall.

Yup there's buses that go to the hospital but they're not very frequent. You could take the more frequent Express Bus from South P Lot to Roth Quad in West Campus, walk north east a little and there's a underpass near the Life Sciences Building leading to the HSC.

Or you can pay monthly for the health sciences garage... which is right next to the building hehe.
