Struggling in Ochem section, please help!

Hi everyone, so I'm currently studying for the Orgo section and I'm overwhelmed by all the reactions we go through in Chads videos and the Kaplan book. I remember some of them but when doing the destroyer problems I get so confused and lose my confidence. Is the Orgo section really going to be that detailed? What's the best way to study these reactions? I don't even know where to begin! Thanks in advance

Don't be overwhelmed. Find a way to get through Chad's and the destroyer. Remember that destroyer is overkill. You are better off over studying than under studying. Make flashcards of the roadmap. The orgo section on the OAT is fair if you over study.

Thank you so much! Also do you feel that the Kaplan practice exams or achiever exams reflect the ogro section of the actual OAT well? (If you've taken either) what's your opinion on them?

I felt like the destroyer problems were too detailed. Crack the OAT had questions that I had exactly on the test. I noticed they ask the questions that are like knowing what reactions go anti-mark and those kinds of things. Also, identifying aromatic rings. I used chads videos and I just went over the notes as much as I could to grasp what they do. He groups them pretty well to where even if they give you something you aren't sure of you can kind of make a good estimation. I hope this helps!

The only practice exams I touched from Kaplan was the diagnostic, midterm, and final. I thought they were fair practice exams. The achiever is overkill, but it's also good practice. The real OAT test is not as hard as achiever. Find as much practice exams you can find and trouble shoot the problems you got wrong. You should be fine. Make sure to be confident. That's half the battle to taking these standardized exams. Good luck!
