With 40 days to go I am pressed for time to study for this test. I have been studying for about 60 days on and off completing three textbooks of material excluding chem and physics. I have read the two bio exam kracker books along with psychology. I have yet to do any practice. I scored 482 in my first practice and a 480 in my second. It seems hopeless now but I want to get a 498 so I can at least apply somewhere. I need help on what I can do to dramatically improve my tests score.

A 498 is below the median for DO applicants. You most likely need to reschedule.

I would reschedule if you don't feel ready. 498 is low and would probably be a waste of an application cycle, to be honest with you, unless you have an exceptional application with gpa, research, etc.

MCAT studying really has to be a full time job. And practice problems and practice exams are high yield. There are some great articles on SDN about "proper" studying for the MCAT. It isn't a matter of knowing all of the material, but applying concepts to problems. The MCAT isn't a cumulative final of 50 credit hours of course work. Gotta practice!

Hi,

I know the feeling. I am preparing for the MCAT also. My test date is May 19th.

I am currently working full time and going to school full time.

What I have found helpful was using the video lectures like Khan academy and quizlet has a lot of MCAT study material that would allow you to test you knowledge of the material. I am an aduditory/visual learner. I can sit there and sift though books.

I hope that the tools that I mentiond could help you.

Good Luck. You got this.

If you feel pressed, then push it back.
You're most likely going to get the average of the two practice test score on the real thing.
