Hey Guys!
I just got a call from USC for interview. But the interview's scheduled for 21st and 22nd and the interview for UCSF is on the same days... What to do? Is anyone else facing the same situation?:scared:

I am in the same boat. Can we request UCSF/USC to change their dates to accommodate many candidates like us?

ya plz pzl shall we all mail them or call them ?

I dunno... I the invitational mail from USC, it did not seem like they would budge. It'll be really sad if we have to make a choice for the interview. I think we should give it a shot... try calling them or sending them a mail telling them about our situation.

ya the language is like an order from the dean 😛 still i will take a shot and mail them. may be there is a miracle !
hoping for the best

I got an email from USC too. It seems that we will have to pick one of the two.

I got my invitation for USC. Still waiting to hear from UCSF.

Seems like that to me as well. That's really sad though...🙁 I am sure we all had been looking forward to a chance to being interviewed at these schools. But, we gotta do what we gotta do!

What do you guys think of getting together and writing to USC... I mean everyone who's affected. Wouldn't that be more powerful than everyone writing alone? What say?

count me in am ready

i am in the same boat guys. what to do. i want to attend both ucsf and usc.

Hey guys,
Mixed feelings... am too facing the same problem... which school do u think we shd approach to? USC mail says no make up dates available.... lets figure out sum way i too wanna attend both the places.
Its like the school cuts down people in this way ????
cheers

I think this wud definitely have more effect that each one wrting individually...
Am sure we r a whole bunch affected by this clash...

JOR se bolo Jai Mata Ki - kuch to hoga !

hi,
this is ridiculous , nobody can attend both UCSF & USC together.
so what to do???
this USC people are not helpful at all.
can we call UCSF & request them,
but we also have UOP right after that???
what to do???
there may be plenty of people invited for all three, UCSF,UOP & USC???
what do we do now???

OK then, let's wait till evening and see how many more students are affected, then maybe we can write a common mail to USC. Chances are not very bright, but we should not give up without trying. I say everyone who's affected post on this thread. We will check it again around 6:30 EST and then decide when and what the next step should be. Anyone has any alternate suggestions... anything else we can do about this situation? Please contribute!

If not postpone, we can request them to pre pone the interview. I know a lot of you guys are invited to all the three schools. Let's just do whatever suits everyone.

Yes lets all write a common mail , am sure atleast there wud be minimum of 30-40 ppl affected... cause UCSF is calling 70 ppl for iview dunno how many USC is calling ... butam sure atleast minimum half students wud be in the same boat...
Lets hope for the best and keep the faith.
cheers

Yes prepone also wud be a good option just as in the days dont clash...

i dont think so...i know and appreciate UCSF ppl really cool and helpful but guys they have 4 days program ready well before USC. we all have confirmed it. and where do u want UCSF to take the dates. UCLA is still undecided wht if they call like after uop? then...
only thing is if USC ppl are lil more considerate !

if USC can bring it 2 days back, we can miss practice session at ucsf and we all can attend both places

hi,
i am at the USC campus right now.
i wud like to go to the admissions office & tell them personally about our problem.
maybe if we can meet with the program director , we can induce a change,
what do you people say???
anybody in & around LA who would like to join me in our personal meeting with the program director at USC,????
anybody???
i am available at [email protected]
regards,

Dear ASPID applicants,

We are aware the USC interview conflicts with the UCSF interview. Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to reschedule the date. I know that it puts you in the position of making a difficult choice but I hope that you make the right choice for your future regardless of which school you choose. I apologize for the inconvenience and hope to see you all on October 21st.

Sincerely,

That makes sense. We stand a better shot with USC. I feel they would listen to us if we all approach them together. I would suggest let's decide on one thing to do and concentrate on that and I feel we all should agree on what we decide. The strength of unity cannot be overemphasized! 🙂

Wow!

Kissa khatam... Goodluck guys. I hope everyone makes the right choice for themselves. See you guys at one of these interviews.

i know its seriously wrong on part of USC ppl they have all the time to check in for dates of UOP and UCSF. If this was going to happen shud have wrote on website prior to applying that dates may clash ! simply taking poor students money :-( and aspiration. It deprives us all a chance ppl. am still mailing Emily and letting her know wht happened is not good.I request you ppl to do that atleast and let them know that its not a good thing on thier part and that too for such a program which is itself so competitive.

any news kapadiakk????????
i request all guys affected to mail Emily. I just mailed her and requested to prepond it for 2 days.
i guess thats it...it leaves ball in thier court.

Hi guys...
I also got both mails from UCS. One for invitation and one for making choice.
I am confused.

Hi all affected

Iam also affected my the interview dates clash.Anyone who has called /is calling UCSF office to let them know about our state and request them to postpone it to 28-thru 31 thats the best dates no clashes with any schools.By Emilys email it is clear they are not going to reschedule.

This is the most shocking thing to have happened. When this has not happened in the past all students attended all 4 interviews in california schools then why this injustice to us ? Lets stand together and be heard .

Lets still email and request USC to pre-pone. This kind of clash has never happened before.

Hye poeple. I got an interview invite too for USC. Please help me how can I get those big list of instruments USC has sent. I am very confused about that .....

hey indian dentist,

i am in the same situation.pm me,lets make a group and discuss the i/v preparation.

Hi All

Here is the email I have sent to USC requesting them to reschedule the interview. Please use it as a template and send it to Emily, Dean and the graduate admissions office. Lets all give GANDHIGIRI a chance .Who knows :scared:

Dear Admissions Officer,
Thanks for the interview invite.
After having worked hard for several years to secure a interview seat in one of the dental schools in California, I was thrilled to get invited but have an issue with the USC interview schedule. I request you to please bring this to the attention of the dean and other higher authorities so that we can seek a solution for the students who are affected by the USC/UCSF conflict.
This has never happened in the past and I would expect that USC administration be considerate, and accomodate this genuine request for a reschedule. Having to select one interview is like lost opportunity for most of the students and adversely affects our career prospects. I would really appreciate any assistance you can provide in this serious matter.

Regards

They did it in purpose... no university likes to have people accepted and then asking to give away their seats.

I believe there has been some amount of unofficial collaboration between different universities...

Look at the "small" positive side of it... seats will be more evenly distributed... and instead of having one person getting 2 acceptances, there will be 2 persons getting an acceptance each!

wats latest Kapadiakk???

well i contacted few students of ASPID at USC,
they informed me that if we go as a bunch of students & meet the dean of USC, maybe we can enforce a change.
i called up UCSF, she won't make any change in her program.
so we have no choice but to meet the USC dean,
i hope if we can gather at least 10 students by monday morning, he will give us an appointment to meet us.
what's ur opinion friends???
atleast people in LA can come together.

thats a good idea. but there are three persons affected in my university and we people are in midwest, we can't reach there. let us know if we can do something. we would be glad to help you people in any way possible.

count me in this UOP / UCSF / USC and BU interviews...:scared:🙁🙁

may be the ppl in LA can come together nd go to USC and the others and ppl in LA send the same mail requesting the school to prepone the dates - wat say...??

think that'l do us any good at all??

I am in LA but I cant go to USC on Monday cos I have my exam. I can go on Tuesday after 11:30 a.m. Would that help? If yes, lemme know.... I am waiting!

i'm in th same situation now
i think we can attend only 2 of these 4 interviews
i feel so bad..

I got an email for USC interview, shortly after that i also got an email saying that USC and ucsf interview ARE in conflict with each other, but the USC WILL NOT change their dates or reschedule their interviews and they also said in the same email choose your school based on what you think is best for you. Hope This helps.

on a side note, if you got 4 or 5 interviews and are waiting for more, hopefully you will get into one or two universities. Hope this helps, keep your spirit high and choose wisely.. Good Luck 🙂

Hey guys. I just came across this thread, and was kind of surprised. Why on earth do you guys expect these big schools to accommodate your requests so readily ? I honestly think it is very unrealistic of you, and further more portraying a negative picture of the applicants even before you walk through their door.
These kind of situations happen everyday. It is not uncommon. These are hard decisions that you have to make, and they are not expected to help you take them. What if you get accepted to both schools ? Now what ? Will you then ask them to wait until you make up your mind ? I am sorry to say this, but in this application process, we are not the ones with the upper hand. As you can see, it is obviously them. Regardless of who is who, I would make up my mind and see which interview I want to attend and go. What school do you have a better shot at ?

Also FYI: There is no secret collaboration or conspiracy theory between all schools, to try and put the applicants in a bad position. It just happens this way. Last year I remember UCSF and Pacific had interviews on the same days, but thats the way the wheel turns.

Having said all that, make up your mind and go give it your best shot ! Good Luck ! These are tough decisions you are required to make. Be honest woth yourselves.

I guess you are right, it is about the availability of a Sunday when the school is empty so that applicants can perform the bench exam.
