study abroad grades

I do actually but you need to be sure that your study abroad program is one which is counted as "foreign" otherwise it is supposed to be included. You ought to be able to find a list somewhere in the help menu but pretty much if you did something through a US college it will count. If you did something through a foreign university it won't. I think I put my grades in as current since I hadn't received them yet. My premed office said to put them in how they will appear on your transcript so if I were to do it again I would not enter them as pass faill since my university gave me blanket credit. In addition, I entered all the courses a second time (first under my main university, second under the program itself) and had I known the grades at the time I would have entered them under the program itself. Does this make sense? It allows them to see your grades but to have them seperate from your main program gpa. However, it depends on the program and how your school treats what you did. Message me if I have failed to be clear-

Does anyone know how to prevent AMCAS using your grades while studying abroad to calculate your gpa?

I did it, but it's rare. AMCAS has a list of study abroad programs for which your grades will count. If your program is not on that list, and your home institution accepted transfer credits from the foreign institution, but not grades, AMCAS might not require a transcript from the foreign school. Technically, in this case, you were not on a "study abroad" program, but enrolled in a foreign institution and the credits were transferred to your home institution.

The question is: "Was the program a study abroad program that is sponsored by a US or Canadian institution?"

If the answer is technically "no" (you should maybe run it by the program director) then you do not have to submit a transcript from the program. You request a transcript exception on AMCAS and enter the courses as pass/fail (double check with AMCAS on this).

hmmm..pretty good advice.. bostonabe..you should follow up and check if your progrm falls under one of these special categories..
