ok, i'm asking this for a friend:

My friend wants to do study abroad in her senior year and apply to med schools. how does one handle this if they get interviews and are still away?

They would most likely have to bite the bullet and fly home. I was in Spain in July when secondaries started rolling in and that was hard enough. I can't imagine worrying about interviews.

Would your friend be doing this fall or spring semester?
If they were abroad in the spring they might be able to get an ealry acceptance and save the time and money.

I studied abroad last fall. While I was there, my TA for one of our classes (a professor and a TA from my university went with us to teach the medical classes)was applying to med school at the time. She returned in November to do interviews, and is currently in med school.
