Under what circumstances do you prefer to memorize large amounts of information prior to a test and then just forget it afterwords? Did anyone successfully do this for any part of the MCAT?

The MCAT tests your critical thinking and analytical ability not the ability to regurgitate information. You'll need BASIC foundational knowledge that you'll need to apply to the paragraphs and answer the question. You'll likely need to memorize some physic formulas but if you think you can just memorize your way to a good MCAT score you're in for a rude awakening.

The pump and dump mentality is very college. Do yourself and future patients a favor and not do this in medical school.

Ummm i definitely crammed a lot of Psych/Socio theories but I can't really see you being able to do it for anything else. Chem/Physics and Bio tests your ability to blend different areas to answer a question which isn't something you can cram for.

Cramming Psych/Socio wasn't something I could avoid since there were so many topic so I feel like I didn't go over in undergrad so I Anki'd the hell out of it. But for everything else, if you find yourself short on time and unable to build solid foundational knowledge then delay your exam.

I did it a lot in college, and it did me a huge disservice in med school. It was relatively easy for me to cram for 2 days and crank out a B+/A-/A on a biochem test because I halfway paid attention in class, but that just made the MCAT harder both because I developed lousy study habits and didn't retain the material for very long after my exams. The crammability of any test is directly correlated with your aptitude, intelligence and baseline knowledge, so do with that what you will.
