I'm studying to take the BCPS in 2009 and had a question for those who've already taken/passed. I see where there is a 2008 prep course from ACCP. I also know that ACCP does a prep course at the spring seminar. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get off to go to the ACCP meeting and wanted to know if the 2008 prep course will be a sufficient foundation for study.

Also, I talked w/a colleague yesterday and she said that she took "practice tests" -- what is she talking about?

    Thanks in advance.

The 2008 course would be fine

I would get it sooner rather than later and study a section or two a month from now until the test.

The course provides a good foundation to go along with current experience.

A sample test can be found on the bcps website.

    peace

How come I can't find a printed copy of the book to purchase on the ACCP website?

I don't believe there's print book avail unless you attend the ACCp meeting. you can call ACCP at 913.492.3311 to be sure.

I am not planning to take it until 2010 - too much other stuff going on for me right now. I have no study group because I don't know anyone else taking it. How important is it to go to ACCP? I was looking at this year's prices for the conference. Whoa. I'm not a member of ACCP anymore, is it worth the membership fee for a reduction in cost on the registration and materials?

My employer will cover the cost of the exam only if I pass. Everything else is on me. No pay increase either as far as I know. I'm really just doing it for my own edification

anyone have the books to share? i am just interested in learning the information and the books are good bc they have everything in one place instead of going searching for junk. i am not planning on taking the test, it is just too pricey and i dont see a pay increase at all.

Couldn't you buy some older books off someone maybe via half.com or amazon? I'm sure not that much changes from edition to edition. I have used them for rotations and they were really good books for what I needed.
