For anyone who's already taken the DAT exam and has any helpful information, how would you study the biology section using Cliff's AP Biology, KBB, Campbell's Biology book, and the DAT destroyer? I need all the advice I can get. Should I write an extensive, specific, and detailed outline of cliffs or should I just read the book, highlight the important facts, and write a general outline? Or should I do both? What about KBB? Etc.

Any helpful advice would be appreciated!

you pretty much named all the important resources used for bio. i would not recommend outlining cliffs because everything in that book is basically outlined for you and it will take you forever to do.

btw SDN does have a DAT sub-forum, its better if u post there and read the threads in there then post here. heres the link:

good luck!

Read+ highlighting cliffs should be enough, that's what I did

Haha. I just finished making electronic flashcards of virtually everything in the cliff's book using mental case. Took me about 3.5 weeks. Longer than I wanted, but now I have flash cards of a TON of biology material, organized into chapters/sections. around 1400 flash cards, haha. Now as for memorizing them...

I outlined the book for every prerequisite class for the DAT. But I did it while I was taking the class so it was a gradual process that took place before having to study for the DAT. Wrote the exam percentage for each section of outlines so that I know how credible each section is. I think outlining is the best way to go because writing something down once is more effective than reading it even 10 times. From my experience anyway...

Be ready for really random questions. I think you're approaching it the right way - lots of different materials.

if you put your bio book on top of your head while sleeping you'll wake up knowing everything

Cliff's AP BIO Book is THE BEST thing to study for. Reading the chapter and doing the questions really helps you. When you feel ready, use the DAT destroyer and do the problems there. Find your weak topics and go over it in the Cliff's and other materials you got.

I found it better than the supposed book that is based for the DAT, in learning the materials you need to know. That's what I used to help tutor those who needed help in Biology section.
