I have taken all dental school pre-reqs that are required, and I'm currently taking physiology, nutrition, anatomy 2, ethics, and bowling 😎 (so 15 hours total).

I am taking the DAT this summer in July. I was wondering if it would be beneficial for me to begin studying lightly for the DAT right now concurrently with studying for classes at my university. I don't want to start studying for the DAT now and then forget the info because it's still 6 months before I take the DAT though, you know?
If you've done this or have any advice it would be great. Cheers! 😀

I actually did the same thing as you and did some light studying six months prior to my dat (1-2 hrs per day) but I ended up not really studying seriously til 3 months prior. 3 months is more than enough time to rock the dat in my opinion. You really do forget alot when u study so far in advance...1 thing u can start working on now is the pat...I found that once I got the hang of those problems I retained that knowledge later on...Buy a copy of crack dat pat and start working on some strategies for the diff sections ...good luck

If you've already taken all the prereqs, then DAT should really just be a review for you.

When I was in your position, I went through Cliffs AP Bio and the KBB every now and then, and on saturday mornings I did DAT study. I went through the kaplan workshop section tests on the saturdays that I studied. I would buy CRACK DAT PAT and do one PAT every saturday. I also casually reviewed my gen chem book and a college algebra book that I had to review permutations, probabilities, etc... Also in this last semester, try to sharpen your mental math skills in all of your classes (never use a calculator, and realize what types of problems are best solved with a calculator).

When the semester ended in april for me, I hit the DAT study and averaged 4-6 hrs/day (april -may) until the last month when I increased to about 6-8 hr. I went through destroyer, kaplan section tests, and Crack DAT PAT/MATH, and saved Top Score for the last 10 days before the DAT which I'd recommend.

Honestly, the only thing I would do now, is maybe read some Biology since it is so broad and then when you really start studying, it will be very fresh. Also, just read through NYT articles to get general practice for RC.

The best advice I could give you is to try and take time to practice for the PAT section. If you put in the time for this section then it is very doable to perform well.
