So I study quite a bit everyday and sometimes the loneliness is more than I can withstand. However, studying with SDN makes me feel connected to other people who are going through a similar struggle. It's a little embarrassing, but I find SDN to be comforting.

Anyone agree?disagree?

yup.

it's good to know your not the only one going through the process.

almost like having a workout buddy @ the gym.

When I start to succumb to pre-med paranoia, SDN let's me know that I'm not crazy but am part of some sort of mass hysteria.

I've been here for 4 years now and this cycle seems to have the most gloomy pre-meds I've ever encountered. There's an "I'm lonely and have no friends" thread at least once a week.

Turn those frowns upside down guys.

*group hug*

Now get back to studying!

You don't get a group hug from me.

SDN takes away too much time from studying. I think I'm addicted.

I thought the Q & A section would be an asset.

Blue is a total A-hole from what I've seen on these boards. Stay away from this kid. He will hurt you with his words.

The cuddly avatar is simply a facade.

Pedie speaks the truth.

Blue's a big creepy meanie.

Group hug #3 w/o Blue.

What now!

No. sdn is evil if you use it for anything more than to search all posts written by credible individuals about such topics as "career", "residency", "school x",etc.

OP: I feel ya man. It's Friday night and i'm at home studying by myself.

Needless to say the state school I go to is full of a bunch of party animals. It would be cool if I had a friend that took school as seriously as I do.

The MCAT does strange things to people...I used to be a very fun guy to be around. Now I just hibernate in my cave. By hibernate, I mean study & by cave I mean room.

Its like in Seinfeld when Jerry tells Kramer to get out of the apartment and go out and do something. Kramer shouts 'no theres nothing out there for me!'

and Kramer was an original gangster, so there.

I love Seinfeld, but just a quick tangent. Kramer ruined it for himself when he screamed racial slurs at that guy during his stand up.

Fail Move. 👎

Haha yeah. I watch Seinfeld as a comfort thing to be honest. If things seem a bit on the pretty low and not tempting side, I'll just play a disc of it. Sometimes I've got it in the background which is kinda nice.

Last they heard, Michael Richards went on a journey to the far East and has not returned, lol.

I just watched the episode where George was wearing his big poofy GORTEX jacket. As they were leaving the liquor store, he knocked down all the wine and the guy took his jacket!

The best part of that episode is often overlooked: the conversation between George/Kramer outside the shop when George convinces Kramer that a rocket scientist could have double parked them. Its really rare to see George and Kramer have any meaningful interaction. This was it.

If Seinfeld trivia were a job, I would be rich. MCAT seinfeld trivia, I would blow the curve.

What's even more rare is interaction solely between George and Elaine. I suppose that's why the show is called Seinfeld. He is the center of the group and holds the group together.

George's work ethics are awesome lol. It is better for him to not be at work than to actually be there. George, "my presence can only hurt".

'The nucleus, the straw that stirs the drink.'

Yeah I identify with George. I'm also kind of lazy with studying, I wish I had Cracked magazine.

I'm also glad this topic has totally derailed.

Not as derailed as my social life. During my freshman year, a Grad. student advised me "that if you want to go to medical school, don't have a life". I basically did that up until this day.

I realize that it is entirely possible for some people to have lots of off time & do well in school. However, my skills as a student are not developed enough to where I can make that leap just yet. I think I'll be able to in Med. school.

Its true to an extent. I would say that if you are really busy as a pre-med, it might have to do with being in several EC's, managing clubs/athletics, and doing schoolwork. I don't think that makes it a bad thing. In fact those skills are really worth having and the experiences are cool for the most part.

If you were a hermit who just studied and did nothing else, I'd say theres room for other things. Not going to lots of parties and being a cool chill dude? I guess those are fun for a few weekends but I'm pretty sure its overrated and not representative of socializing in the real adult professional world anyways..

Don't sweat it, medicines tough but you do socialize and have room for activities and hobbies.

I agree. I just find it amusing that people correlate social abilities to parties. Honestly, I've never found parties (at least the ones we're refering to) as being anything more than a place for small talk & getting wasted. One could say that it is a great place to meet chicks, but I disagree. There are many better places to meet women that actually allows you the opportunity to engage in a conversation. Talking to women during parties with loud music? So high school imo. Surely many people will disagree with this...

This just might be the second most realistic dating advice on SDN. The first is this:

Lol, isn't that the truth. I remember when I used to be a very social and humorous person....now I make jokes like "Yeah I'd protonate her base" or "Dude, i'd perform an exothermic reaction on her"

Ok, without google, tell who got into the double parked car?

Do you remember when Jerry left town and George and Elaine could only have anything to talk about if they talked about Jerry!!

Case in point!!
