So I get this patient in my ER last night. She was attacked by her boy friend, beaten and then set on fire. She was actually not hurt too bad (it's amazing how indestructible some of these folks are.) About 2 hours after she hits the door I'm standing in the break room and on the TV news the reporter is LIVE in front of the apartment building that the doofus torched while trying to kill my patient. I swear the reporter said that the suspect was wanted for "multiple violent felonies" and was still at large but that the victim (my patient) was at my ER and doing fine. She named the ER where the assault victim was being treated while the suspect is still at large. She might as well have said "Hey, Mr. Scumbag-suspect, if you want to finish the job head on down to ER X where your girlfriend is. Bring your own matches."
Anyway, I had a quick discussion with the hospital PR guy and he straightened the TV station out. Do these people think at all about the things they report?
