Hi,
I'm an M3 in a medical school in Israel. We have relations with Columbia, so there are good chances of getting electives there. However, we aren't allowed Sub-I's in IM there, and we're to find spots ourselves.
The Sub-I "landscape" changes every year, so I wanted to ask you guys if you did see international students doing Sub-I's at your residency/rotation.
My classmates and I are having a hard time finding Sub-I positions in Internal Medicine.
Among the grateful programs that say they allow electives, those that allow Sub-I positions are pretty rare.
Also, any tips on invoking the "phone-call" approach to try to wiggle into Sub-I positions that aren't allowed on paper is greatly appreciated. I want to do it the most sensitive and sincere, approving way possible, but my "social GPS" isn't that adept at doing things like this.
Can anyone share any leads/ideas?
Thanks in advance.
