I finally submitted my PharmCAS application last night around midnight. One of the schools I'm applying to emailed me this morning offering me an interview already.

I guess I'm a little clueless as to how the process works... I thought my application (I.E. GPA, transcripts, PCAT, personal statement, etc) hadn't even been sent to them yet? Or is it just available to them online instantly? I guess I'm just curious whether this school thinks I'm a strong applicant (I'd like to think so) or if they're just blindly offering interviews to everyone - this second scenario seems a little unlikely.

That seems awfully quick. Most schools also want supplemental applications before offering interviews. I doubt they would just "blindly" offer an interview, but I have to wonder how rigorous their admissions processes is that they would offer so quickly. Out of curiosity, is it a fairly new school or a (and I hesitate to call schools bad because it can be very subjective) below par school?

Or maybe you are just some hot **** on pharmcas and every school is gonna want a piece.. 😉

Yeah, I had a school offer me an interview that I didn't send in the supplemental to. I was not impressed.

The school is UAMS, if that gives you all any insight.

As far as the supplemental application goes, they don't require one until you're invited to interview.

?? I am confused. Look on their website it states under "admissions"

All applicants with a grade point average of 2.50 (as calculated by PharmCAS), or above, on their overall college record, a minimum composite percentile of 30 on the PCAT and a minimum grade of “C” in each of the pre-pharmacy course requirements, are eligible for consideration for interview and possible admission to the College of Pharmacy.

PHARMCAS CALCULATED. pharmcas takes more than a day to calculate your GPA. so Im not sure how you got an interview. might wanna call and ask.👍

on the bright side! congratulations on your interview. I'm not trying to be a debbie downer, but either you have crazy stats or ..I have no idea. and YES I called Pharmcas, As soon as you esubmit, schools have E access to your app. HOWEVER, they do NOT have your pharmcas calculated GPA. so unless you school computed your GPA in a couple of hours is doubtful?

I wouldn't say my stats are all that "crazy" compared to others on here, but just a quick look at my transcripts (which I guess are available to them) shows that it obviously meets their requirement - I think my school calculates it as 3.59 something, with it being 3.9 or so considering only the last 2 years. I have a few too many Bs my first 3 semesters, one C, rest As. My PCAT was a 91. I should have a post with more info buried somewhere in the last few pages of the WAMC thread.

But even if they can tell I meet their requirements before bothering to have pharmcas calculate my GPA, it still seems a little odd. I would think that they'd take more time to go over my personal statement and LoRs than that - this was the main thing giving me doubts.

I guess it's worth mentioning that they offered to interview me next Friday - that could've impacted how fast they sent the invitation, right? To give me as much notice as possible. She let me choose to interview in their next round instead though.

It just doesn't seem common for schools to send out invitations so hastily. I think I have decent stats, but considering that this doesn't even happen to the plethora of people on here with amazing GPAs, PCATs, experience, etc... this instantly gave me the same doubts most of you seem to have - just how easy is it to get an interview here? is it a quality school? etc.

A situation similar to this happened to me as well. I received an invitation to interview from Touro much earlier than I expected to. (I hadn't even submitted my supplemental yet.) I called to confirm whether or not the invitation was sent to me by mistake. Lo and behold, it was a mistake! The admissions person on the phone basically took the invitation back, and she didn't even apologize for the confusion. 🙁 My advice to you is to call the school to verify everything is in order!

I've been in contact with the school's admissions person, since she had to send me the supplemental app. and I had to get the interview date sorted out. It's certainly not a mistake. I just thought it was weird at the time.

At this point, I have no reason to think it was anything but a legitimate, if quick, offer. I think she originally wanted me to interview this month, on the 5th, for whatever reason - hence the hasty offer - but I had to decline and wait til December.

It is a lot easier to get into pharmacy school these days. So schools are begging students for admissions. .....sad but true.

You're right. A lot less stress for students if it's getting that easy.. I wonder which would lower your blood pressure better. Lowering the requirements, or you, lisinopril? haha

Hmmm, Well I wish one would hurry up and beg me to enroll already.....

Said the person who hasn't applied to Pharmacy school in years. As I stated in one of my previous posts. Some students are still struggling and worrying about getting interviews. It may be more saturated now, but it is still a competitive process. One of the schools I interviewed at this cycle said they've received ~1400 applications so far and their class size is a little over 110. I don't think they'll be begging students to accept anytime soon.
