I'm sure this is discussed, so sorry to repeat, but I couldn't find a great answer. What happens if I submit w/o my LORs in the post office yet? And also, if I assign three letters to a program, but they're not in yet, can I later change the assigments and use a different letter to replace one? Also, do programs automatically re-download my apps when new letters come in, or how does that work?

Thanks!

Your application will be downloaded by programs. Each program will decide whether to review your application without letters. If not, it will remain in their "pending", until you submit letters.

Yep. And programs will not know the difference. We only find out about your letters when the actual letter arrives. Hence, if you assign Dr. X's letter to me, but then before the letter is downloaded to my program (perhaps because Dr. X never got around to writing you a letter), you change and assign Dr. Y's letter to me, all I see is a letter from Dr. Y.

Every time we connect to the Post office, we get any new data you have in your application. This could be LOR's, your MSPE, new transcripts, your PS, a change in your AOA status, USMLE's, etc. The system is "smart" and we only get the new stuff.
