I wanted to inquire about what the outlook is for dental professionals practicing in San Fransisco or one of its suburbs. I know that some of the most saturated areas include SF, LA, NY, etc and I was born, raised, and did my undergrad around San Fransisco.

I'm fine with going to dental school outside of CA but I would like to practice in the place that I know (a suburb near SF). So I was wondering, does the future looks bleak for new dentists in a highly saturated area like San Fransisco?

I would appreciate responses from practicing dentists or dental students.

I'm from San Jose, where are there are practically 3 dental offices in every stripmall, next to every frozen yogurt places on every other corner. I wanted to retire early but the area's antiwealth/antibusiness climate along with high cost of living probably won't let me achieve that goal, so I left 10 years ago. All the dentists I know there are living in million dollar homes, which isn't a big deal in the Bay Area, so they must be doing well. New places are still popping up so everyone must see something attractive. You will do just fine. Just keep in mind that past performance is no guarantee of future results.

I live in San Francisco. Within about 3 blocks of my apartment, there are 4 different dental offices. Just sharing.
