Sufficient amount of shadowing?

Hello,

Wanted to know if I should keep shadowing/looking for shadowing opportunities or if I have enough hours racked up?

I currently have 40 hours of PCP shadowing, across two providers.

I been working as a scribe with a general surgeon for almost two months and have well over 100 hours at this point. Does this add to shadowing hours (kinda) even though I’m working? I know I can’t put it as shadowing, but does it add to the idea that I know what physicians do?

I also have my volunteer coordinator offering to have me shadow some endocrinologists, so I may add an additional 10-15 hours to add down the line.

I sure as heck think so. Please up those scribe hours before the application and I would recommend taking the endo guy opportunity but yeah I think you will be set up well.

Yeah, I just started. It’s about 15 hrs/week, so there are many more hours to come!

I’ll try to push the endo opportunity and see if the doctor I scribe for could get me into a surgery, too.

More than 50 hours of shadowing is completely unnecessary.
