An alternative way to gain acceptance if stats don't do the job.I have reason to believe that one of the schools that I applied to lost my supplemental material. However, they did cash the check that was with my supplemental. Because the application process is rolling admission, I feel like the school has damaged my chances of getting in. Do I lawyer up because I feel robbed...
The refund wouldn't be just for the check I spent though... Like there is the application fee as well.the cost of the lawyer is actually more expensive than what you'd get from the school. If you want to get a lawyer and go through the hassle, go for it. Same thing happened to me, I think, because I haven't heard anything yet and the check has been cashed, not even an application complete email, but just call the school and ask if they have the supplemental, if they don't then tell them you sent it in the same envelope as the check, so you want a refund.
LMAO Doc Toothache, you didn't have to do that!!!An alternative way to gain acceptance if stats don't do the job.
you want to sue because of like ...50$?
It's not just $50. It's also the application fee. Also, I could have applied to another school instead of this one. The school hasn't responded to my emails or calls about the situation and it's been quite some time. I'm not the type of person your thinking of. It's just a very frustrating situation and I don't know what to do at this point. I'm thinking that legal action would probably get their attention.you want to sue because of like ...50$?

I pray that this is some form of sarcasm.Do it. Then take them to civil court and sue them for emotional distress and psychological damages, to get the bang out of your buck!
It's pretty late in the cycle to do that...So... you want to sue a school, hire a lawyer, waste all that time and energy just for (at most) $350? With all the time and money you spend doing that, you could just apply to another school, and then some.
It would get their attention, but do you really think they're even going to glance at the application of someone who tried suing them? The point of a lawsuit would to get their attention since they haven't responded to my calls or emails. In a process of rolling admission, get your stuff lost/misplaced, does hurt your chances of getting in. I just want a fair shot and losing my stuff hurts that. Again, ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY!

The only other choice I have is to go to the school and talk to them in person. That would make the "better" impression, but it would be very expensive. Again, the school has failed to respond in a timely manner so I don't know what is going on. Again, I was just asking the community for advice on my situation. I haven't talked to a lawyer, threatened to sue the school, or anything take any action that would have a negative impact on my application. I'd be happy if they just responded say, "Sorry for making an error in your application..." Again, the main point is that they have said NOTHING! I understand it's a busy process, but they get paid to deal with a high volume of applicants. It would get their attention, but do you really think they're even going to glance at the application of someone who tried suing them?

Series thread? I haven't sued them nor do I want to. I just want a response. Then you should have applied to both in the first place.
Is this a series thread? You do realize suing them pretty much guarantees you won't be attending their school? I really don't see what you expect to gain from this.
UPENN??? I'm not gonna say which school, but it wasn't UPENN.Upenn lost your sup didn't they? Bro you should go after them, that schools got $$
Yah. I think I'm gonna talk to the dean at my school and see if he knows anyone at the school.Understand the frustration, but what will suing grt you? Not mucb.
You did get advice, but it is not to your liking and you continue on your Rambo stance. Apparently schools are in step with your definition of "timely manner".The only other choice I have is to go to the school and talk to them in person. The other option is to wait it out. If you aren't hearing back from any other schools and you're desperate to get an interview at this particular school, then the most drastic thing I would consider is to spend the extra money to fly there and try to have a conversation with somebody. Suing is crossing the line on many levels when you're trying to get accepted into a school'a program. What if the dean of that school tells contacts at other schools that you're suing them? Then you're done. The only other choice I have is to go to the school and talk to them in person. That would make the "better" impression, but it would be very expensive. I said that I had reason to believe that they lost it. I was in the first batch. Every other school sent me an application complete except for this school. I know other people have gotten the email saying their application was complete etc. I never got an email. However, they did cash the check that was with my supplemental stuff. So I don't know what is going on. If nothing gets updated I will probably have to fly there, but I would like to at least know what the situation is before I do something like that.Someone asked this before but what proof do you have that they lost the supplemental? I don't see you answering this question...

Do you really think a school that lost your application and won't return your calls/emails is a good choice?
And take it from someone who has worked in a legal field, if you did sue them, and it wasn't thrown out by a judge, the whole thing would would drag on for months. You might not get any resolution until next cycle or longer.
No school will admit a student who sued them. And you should not attend a school that you have sued; the administration wouldn't exactly have benevolent feelings towards you.
And, do you intend to just show up at the school without an appointment and demand to speak to someone? I wouldn't admit someone like that, it's rude and unprofessional. Maybe the school is being unprofessional in not responding, but they're in the position of power.
Errr...... yes.Do you see me entering the school like Rambo yelling "Where is my app?" My feelings towards the school has turned a bit sour, but it's a school I would like to attend. Again, I just want a fair shot, just like everyone. If something gets delayed in a rolling admission process, you can get screwed over. What would you do? Just let it go?
You understand that if we applied to the same school, sent in our stuff at the same time, you would have such a huge advantage over me. My options suck right now and I am waiting it out. I just didn't expect for something like this to happen... Time to listen to some adele...Let it go? No, I would probably hold a grudge for years. My point is that you have crap options at this point, and, like the rest of us will probably just have to wait patiently until they finally respond to your calls/email or notify you of your status.
